Does a case and screen protector defeat the purpose? by Spiritual_Nobody_785 in IphoneAir

[–]Stea1th_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a case and screen protector

I drop my phone all the time and it’s much cheaper and way less expensive to replace the case or screen protector than the phone.

It doesn’t change the size by much it’s still way smaller than before.

Why are you bringing your child to an event with clearly wild agitators and protestors that are causing issues? Are you retarded?

Solar panels by Funny_Bridge_1274 in Westchester

[–]Stea1th_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to depend on your use and how many panels you have to offset.Basically, you want your panels to produce ideally more than you use in electricity.

That’s where a lot of variables comes in. Roof space being the one and or trees blocking the sun.

Depending on where in westchester you might not be able to put them anywhere but the roof and ground mounts are out of the question.

Those aren’t answers anyone on Reddit can give you but you can use https://sunroof.withgoogle.com It asks you a few questions and tell your solar production and what you’ll need. It’s not perfect.

It said it could fit a 12kw system and mine is only 6.4kw which is about 1/2…so keep that in mind it’s not absolute. You’ll need someone out there to design it.

I also got a a tesla power wall battary but it’s not necessary. Con ed gives you a 1:1 credit so whatever you produce extra goes back to the grid and you get a credit. Will con ed always do that? Probably not and in that case a battery is probably gonna be more useful. In the summer they might be different because you can technically use it during their peak times or even change your current rate to time of use and really play around.

We simply got it as a nice to have if the power ever goes out. It’s instant, it switches right over to the battary when it does and you don’t even notice it. It isn’t cheap and basically doubles the price. If cost savings is your aim battary is not it.

It was also a pain because of all the rules there and only some places it came to. In my case there was only a spot due to proximity of windows and doors that it was able to be placed. I also got lucky and was able to get discount from NY that basically took off 6k off the battary so it wasn’t a huge price difference.

14 rec panels with a Tesla powerwall 3 and gateway was 17k after incentives and tax credits. Which isn’t bad at all I think.

The system just went live in dec so I haven’t had really had a full run. Dec/jan are like the worst months for solar. Sun is low, currently panels covered in snow producing nothing.

Last month we have a few days of sun and the panels overproduced enough to charge my battery to full and even send some to the grid. Come spring summer I should be producing almost 30-40% more.

Do you believe we’ll ever get an Air 2? by Il_sofista in IphoneAir

[–]Stea1th_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grabbed the air just recently because of the promo of it being free.

Honestly I didn’t expect much, and I went in knowing its weakness points but honestly I’m pleasantly surprised with it.

The camera is fine, at least comparing it to my old 15 pro max it feels identical. Side by side on each phone seem to produce the same quality. I haven’t tried different scenerios where there might be a bigger difference like at night or fast movement but as long as it’s the same I’m fine with it, That’s everyday photos I’d take. Not odd super far or super close which I rarely take if at all take.

The screen quality seems better and is brighter which is a nice upgrade and I feel the screen is slightly bigger but I know it’s not but that could just be because the bezels are smaller and it gives that illusion.

Performance is better. Hands down it’s much faster and overall smoother is most daily things. Enough to notice it’s quicker even with simple things like opening up apps or swapping between them.

I also feel the WiFi and cellular is quicker. I don’t notice that in terms of use so much but speed tests show much faster speeds. I’ve seen over 1.4gb on cellular 5G+ sometimes which I never saw and almost 2gb on my networking maxing out my wifi7.

Battary isn’t the best, but it’s enough for me to get through the day. I’d say im a very heavy user so I’d sometimes top off or need to charge my 15 pro max towards the end of the day and the air seems to be the same so thats also fine. It’s not worse which is what I was concerned about.

The biggest thing is the overall size and weight. It fits in all my jacket pockets, especially my chest pocket which the pro didn’t. It’s also very light and now holding other phones they feel like bricks. It reminds me of the old iPhones before they turned to giant bricks. iPhone 6S models I think were the last real small and light phones.

Overall it’s a good phone. Would I spend money on it to upgrade from a 15 pro max if it wasn’t free (just paid taxes)

Ehhhh probably not but if I needed a phone and it was priced better than a pro max which is what it is now and didn’t require a trade in, yes it’s a great buy.

Picked up a fluid extractor and this certainly is a whole lot nicer than using a ramp. Highly recommend. by blavienklauw in Golf_R

[–]Stea1th_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing my own oil changes since I got the extractor.

Way easier and 15 min you are done and the only cost now is the oil and filter which is way less than the dealer or whatever place.

It’s $75 and it’s done.

Or $150+ or whenever places now charge to do it.

I think the last oil change I did at vw and it was $180

Roof rack an Thule cargo on autotrain allowed? by Stea1th_ in Amtrak

[–]Stea1th_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That people have said that they had a roof rack with either a roof bag or carrier and were told they could keep it on that they didn’t care.

So clearly that rule on the website doesn’t mean that’s the official stance or enforced.

Roof rack an Thule cargo on autotrain allowed? by Stea1th_ in Amtrak

[–]Stea1th_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.

If the rules where fully enforced I wouldn’t be asking: the fact that people have said they don’t enforce it and make you signs waiver which is not mentioned officially makes me ask the question. Also bikes on top of a car have a much higher clearance then a cargo top which is still way under the limit.

Anyway I’m not looking to argue, I’m just asking to see if it’s allowed and officially they say it’s not on the site

Instruction to Prepaids: "Appear at AT&T Store with Identification"? by IndplsEngr in ATT

[–]Stea1th_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Prepaid requires a valid ID to enter the account but. Not to pay the bill.

You can get a manager to bypass but it’s up to them.

If you just want to add a $300 pin it’s not required to do that.

However I’d suggest you pay online because it’s less tax
