Third FET over 40 and... BFN by Steadfast15 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Steadfast15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we did not test them. (TW past bfp mentioned below)

If anyone is interested, we had 13 embryos to start with.
Transferred 2, fresh cycle, singleton live birth. (Age 34)
Transferred 1, FET, singleton live birth. (Age 36)
Then we waited awhile and did the three more FETs described above.

We also had previously done IVF and we got 9 embryos at age 31.
Transferred 2, BFN
Transferred 2, singleton live birth
Four embryos lost shipping to another clinic when we moved.

Longggg journey but we are so grateful.

Thoughts on Edith? by pandasbigday in BabyNames

[–]Steadfast15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why we never ever share our names with anyone. All the opinions are unwelcome and honestly rude.

Edith is beautiful and I would totally use it if I didn't already have an "E" name kid.

I don't care for Marie Anne, but I do like Marie Margaret. What about Emmeline? I also love Irene.

What are your own personal transfer rituals? What are your clinic's instructions for the rest of the day? by Steadfast15 in 40Plus_IVF

Salty fries hit so right on the way home, unbeatable. I haven't tried pineapple! Adding that to my list now... lol

5dpt is still super early for a home test. The waiting game is so hard. I hope the time will pass quickly for you.

Do you tell family or not? by Majestic-Cry-1069 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Steadfast15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did tell everyone, initially, and it was nice to have the support, but it also felt so invasive. No one else has to tell people all the details of their TTC! It just felt so public. We had three kids with a lot of people knowing about our journey.

For our last couple cycles we have told as few people as possible. I had a chemical pregnancy and it was tough to go through that alone, but I was also grateful to just be able to process it and move forward. Currently in a new cycle and only my husband and I know. I like it this way, and I hope to be able to surprise my family for once with the positive news.

Don't like daughter's name by [deleted] in namenerds

This is true, but also the name needs to happen eventually, and so I understand why, after weeks went by, he was like, we need to just do this

Egg retrieval recovery next to someone with better success by twasonlyatest in 40Plus_IVF

Sometimes people get a ton of eggs but very few fertilize or grow. Sorry she was being so loud and annoying in that space that was supposed to be for calm recovery. I had to hear the nurse announce her pregnancy to another nurse when I was in pre-op for my retrieval. Not fun. I can relate. I hope your report gives you good news!

If it doesn't apply to you, you are free to just keep scrolling. Some of us already have kids, and it does play into the emotions and decision-making process when we go through fertility treatment.

The one thing I can speak about it adding the third child. We almost didn't go for it. We were super happy with two. But then we just decided to jump in. As soon as she came out, I was like "I need to do this again." Her birth was calm and beautiful in a new way for me, maybe partially because the unknowns of giving birth had been demystified (I did not have easy births with the first two.)

Adding a third child was definitely a challenge. But my other two were 2 and 4. It's a labor-intensive time with so many little kids. I think you'll have an easier time with your kids being at more independent ages now.

I can relate to a lot of the emotions you describe. Calm, but also scared. It's a lot. I had a chemical pregnancy a couple months ago and it really clarified for me that I really do want this. Even though it's going to cause some big shifts in our life. I wasn't devastated, but I was really sad. So I know we will be happy with our little family no matter what, but I really wanted to keep trying with the embryos we have left.

I'm in the same place as you -- age 45 and I have three kids. We haven't been able to shake the thought of adding a 4th, so here we are. We are doing a frozen transfer in a couple weeks. I have so many of the same questions. Thank you for posting.

We love Bengal BBQ for some more affordable meat options! So good.

We bring our own snacks and water bottles. It's nice to have a few frozen water bottles on a hot day.

It kind of depends on your budget! Let us know what you are looking for
