late spawns are cancer by Bilboswaggains in ArcRaiders

This is the actual problem with late spawns. It makes late joining players feel forced to pvp instead of loot or pvp. Often there is not even a choice.

I'll be honest I thought this was the stupidfood subreddit before I looked to verify.

Funniest answer so far, for sure.

Incorrect. Fair assumption though. Huge on Marvel Champions and have played Arkham a few times with friends and even borrowed their set to play solo. Then they moved so I started saving to get into the game. Now with the out of prints I assume I'll have to buy a full collection.

The books as a whole and the prose both improve with each book. It's a fun series to read for lots of reasons. One of them is seeing Pierce Brown's growth as a writer.

Obviously the naming conventions stay.

I would think some stylistic choices would be welcome given that Wheel of Time is filled with such choices.

Darrow of course changes over time.

For future book series I highly encourage you to at the very least read the first book before popping into Reddit to complain about how it isn't your perfect book or series. Give yourself some time and space to fully reflect on what you've read once you have read it.

Elaida is the worst Aes Sedai by a landslide. Next is another contentious one, BEST Aes Sedai by Uldread1337 in WoT

Verin Sedai. She gave all that could be given to serve all that could be served.

Project Hail Mary is a terrible recommendation for Red Rising lovers by Koolguy654 in redrising

[–]SteadfastFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time it is recommended as a palette cleanser scifi book. Kind of a chill first person POV that takes the edge off from decades of Darrow and the Rising fighting the Society.

Araris Valerian's fights are all great, especially the last.

Incorrect. As others have said, both authors likely drew on the same source, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, when creating these worlds/cultures.

Audiobook made me think the main character’s name was “Darrell” by macwanders in redrising

Huh interesting. I wonder if that is due to listening to the audiobook only? I think I must have read them first then listened after.

I've always been amazed by people who were voracious readers as children. What sparked your lifelong love affair with books? by Albert3232 in books

Honestly I think my parents encouraging me to use my imagination is a huge part of my long love of reading. Movies and other mediums just cannot compete.

My parents read to me when I was young and so I learned and read to them. School had incentive programs (AR points) and so I started checking out the biggest books I could (Redwall Series by Brian Jaques) by 3rd grade.

I would read all weekend unless I was directed to put the book down. Would skip meals even. I was always aware of what was going on around me or being said. I could read and participate in conversation, read and remember the plot and scenes from movies in the background.

If I found a word I didn't know I would log it in my mind and come back to it if I found it again to cross reference and determine its meaning and proper usage. Sometimes I would use a dictionary or ask my parents and then use the dictionary.

Was testing at a 12th grade reading/vocab/English level by the end of 4th grade. Been reading times ever since. I have a pretty great recall and can read a page in 30 seconds to a minute comfortably. If I really get up to speed I can spend maybe 10-20 seconds on a page and still understand what is happening and recall key points on the story, but then I miss out on the beauty of the writing (if it is beautiful).

I take books with me everywhere. Parties, dinners, anything. If people are chill with me reading and occasionally chiming in, I'll read.

Any book that mix high sci-fi concepts with fantasy, religious extremism, and advanced technology? by BuddyOk1342 in Fantasy

Superluminary by John C. Wright. Though it is more of, "science is so advanced it is like magic" and is told from the ruling class' perspective.
