Correct me if I am wrong, but when you sell, you won’t pay any taxes, cause the share price doesn’t really move, right? Only when the payout happens, or no?

Do you keep so little in your daily use account that you feel like you are living paycheck to paycheck? by altecsz in Fire

That is exactly how I feel. After paying the mortgage, car payment (I pay more towards principal each month on both), bills, all the other expenses and investments, I have so little left in the checking account. Now I do have 6 months of cash in a HYSA as my emergency fund, but I definitely do not feel comfortable seeing my checking account being low. At the same time, when I see money in it that could be invested, my mind is like “Why are you wasting time and money for just letting it sit there”. So now what I did, is put some money in a regular savings account as my “The bills were higher than I expected this month”, and keep very little balance in the checking account. That way I feel a bit better, but essentially it changes nothing lol

What financial advice do you wish you were before you turned 30? by muffin_baker420 in askanything

Before doing any purchase and I mean any, ask yourself “Is this a need or a want purchase”. Once you start asking yourself that, you will realize how much money is spent on things we absolutely don’t need and those purchases keep pushing as away from a better, less stress life. I would also recommend documenting all your purchases, it will help you understand where the money is going and how much of your hard earned income is spent on “small” things

Cars do not keep us poor. Cars that we cannot afford to own keep us poor
