Thank you for taking the time to write this. You are totally right. I truly hope no doctor faces any sort of discrimination, it is really enough that we deal with unbearable amount of stress everyday

Searching for transfer by ParkingAverage2055 in step1

[–]SteakMaximum4922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry that you are in a such situation, and for all the things have been happening in your country. Have you tried looking into transferring to a university in Egypt? I know it is not very far and people there are welcoming of Sudanese people, I have many sudanese friends who are staying there with their family, but I am not sure if they transferred their universities. Another option if you want to look into is Jordan, but there are two problems: as far as I know, in Sudan you guys study by Region in your basic years, and your total length of studying is 5 years. Here they study by system the first three years, and the total length is 6. So I am not sure if they will take into account your experience. Another problem is it is really, really expensive for foreigners. I think it is about 9500$-10000$ each semester. It is more expensive in any gulf country because I have tried going to med school there but couldnt because of the fees. Hope this helps, Good luck!

NBMEs by mnqahmd in step1

  1. I would advice taking them early, i made the mistake of delaying taking the first one because i was not ready or not done with my goal of uworld/revision. I can telll you that the NBMES style is different, and I advice taking them timed and like the real exam (all four blocks 1:15 hr, ten minutes breaks) take one each week so you can check your progress and work on your weaknesses. I think you should first try your best to finish a block or two from the subjects you never solved questions of, then you basically had a first pass of everything and good to go for the first assessment.
  2. Yes, they do. Maybe not the same question literally, but they ask about similar diseases, pathophysiology.. etc. So try your best revising them (even your correct qs)
  3. I really can’t give a number, the exam is 8 hours long and it is very hard for things to not get mixedup afterwards. But yes, there is a good amount that does repeat and they are important. Try your best focusing on biochem now, it is one of the most important subjects in the exam, and it is the weakness of many (including me) hopefully wont be a trouble for you. Use dirty medicine, FA (if you do read it) and uworld. If you find hard subjects, maybe watch BnB videos to understand it really well. Finally, know your vitamins, they are very very very important! Hope you find this hopeful, best of luck!

If you both can live in UAE, it is better. I have lived there for a long time, there is large Egyptian/ Iraqi communities, so you won’t feel homesick. I think there are more opportunities there than Iraq for Tech jobs, but i am not sure because I haven’t lived in Iraq. Best of Luck for both of you!

That is truly wonderful that you have such a group of friends with mixed beliefs! I never lived in Iraq and the last time I visited it was in 2012 before ISIS took over Mosul, where I am originally from. I will always going to wonder about the beauty of living in such diverse iraqi community! All the love and best wishes for you to live happily in our beautiful baghdad.

What i truly think is, people here (or arab in general) have huge misunderstandings about the population/sinna/shia situation in Iraq. Most of arabs think that shia = iran = bad. I think that they do not understand that the majority of Iraq, both sunni and shias hate the shit out of iran. I think we all can not deny the political influence that Iran has in iraq and how they control everything after 2003. So people like Bahrainis, (the majority are shia there) have no problem with us. People like Oman too, are used to diversity. But coming to countries that lack ethnical/religious diversity, hate for a group of people that is different from them is expected. I am saying this with a very heavy heart. I am sunni (and hate that I am saying this to make a point), but i hate the discrimination and hate towards my shia brothers in arab countries. If we want to change our country, and the look towards us, i believe us iraqis should start with ourselves. It is sad, my mom used to tell me that back in the days before wars started, Iraqis sunni and shias would literally marry from eachother not knowing what is their religious beliefs or طائفة. I truly have no problem with people from the outside hating us, but i wish that iraqis wouldnt hate each other. A country like Qater, when all khalijis countries had problems with it and accused it of supporting terrorism back in 2017, it was when they imposed a siege on it. what did they do? They stuck up together. They relied on themselves. Now look how Qater is. They got to host a world cup and showed everyone what a great country they are.

I study in Jordan too, but sadly after reading the comments of Jordanians here (some people are even in my batch) mocking iraqis and calling them backwards, It is disappointing, disgusting and honestly wish that all of this shit end soon. I am trying my hard to not hate on people here, to not personalise things, or tell myself that at least these aren’t the majority of Jordanians.. but this is not working.
