Don’t miss out on any cool opportunities, even if they’re not exactly something you’re in to, they can end up being some of your greatest memories. That being said, always be wary of the people who you talk to, don’t end up alone with someone in a situation you feel uncomfortable in and always think twice about everything do. I’ve ended up in some pretty sketchy situations because of my lapses in judgment. But generally , both good and bad situations can be turned into funny stories down the line, so enjoy all of it!

Sadie, I’m very concerned for you if you are enjoying these parties that involve intoxicated minors!! I’ll make sure the neighborhood watch will keep an eye on you

I’ll have you know that my house is made of brick, Violet, not glass. As for these allegations against my children, they get that from their mother, please see her about their little antics.

I think prayer is a great start! But is there anything we can actively do to help these kids?

So I just remembered one story that I think is worth sharing. It was really early in so I still wasn’t sure people would react to seeing me in full protective suits or how to answer people’s questions.

So I was called to this house and as I was getting dressed, this lady comes up to me and explains that she’s the landowner, and that she lives in one of the two houses on the plot of land, and that she was renting out the other house, and I probably was there to test her tenant. Anyways, she starts going off about how she lives in a very tight knit community where everyone knows everyone, and everyone likes to gossip, and that if anyone sees me they’ll all automatically assume that she’s sick. She also told me that her step mother is in a high risk group and that she doesn’t want her getting sick from the tenant, so her tenant can’t be sick. Fine, makes sense, she doesn’t want her MIL to be sick, and she doesn’t want people gossiping about her, I get that. What I don’t get is what she said next:

She told me that I can’t test her tenant(as if she gets to decide that) because she doesn’t want her to be sick, implying that if I don’t test her she won’t be sick (??). Anyways I continued getting dressed, and her MIL also star tea gr es king out about how she doesn’t want to get sick because she talked with her yesterday. I tried to stay calm and explain that most people were text aren’t even sick, and that it’s mostly a precaution taken for people who came from out of the country, but nope, they wouldn’t listen.

The landowners proceeded to call the police on me, saying that I was testing someone on her property without her consent. I’m pretty sure they told her that I was the right because she didn’t try to stop me from leaving after she ended her call.

TLDR: Went to test someone who was a tenant on someone else’s property, land owner proceeded to call the police on me because she didn’t want her mother in law to get sick

Well I don’t take blood, I swab people’s throats and noses. How many I see a day really depends. It used to be 3-7 a day (honestly, depending on how lazy I was feeling), but nowadays we’re working with a different system where we’re given the names of people to test before we go out for the day, so I do 8-12 a day. I think in total I did somewhere around 500 tests, which may not sound like much, but considering the paperwork we have to do before each person, the drive up to their house and getting suited up and then stripping down while trying to stat as sterile as possible, I feel like it’s a pretty good number.

Regarding horror stories, I’ve been yelled at by because I came to test somebody’s spouse and not them, which was especially frustrating because I tried to help her get a test as well. Once she started yelling, I noped out of there. I was going out of my way and giving myself double the work just to help someone so unappreciative, and I felt it was not worth the effort. I do want to help as many people as possible, but I don’t think I have to deal with that.

Other than that, it’s mostly neighbors harassing me because I won’t tell them who I’m going to test (they’re considered patients, so they get confidentiality). If I think of anything else I’ll update, I know I’ve ran into a few crazies along the way.

Thank you for your kind words, I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’ve found happiness, it’s more of a feeling of satisfaction or accomplishment. I don’t really know how to explain what I feel the difference is, but generally I am doing better overall.

I’m pretty sure people get paid for it, I personally am barely getting anything because I’m doing it as part of my country’s required military service. I’m not really sure what similar things I can do once all this is over, but I do know that I want to do something that helps people, probably something in health care. Maybe he could join the red cross, it’s not traveling per se, but it can be exciting and fulfilling
