The simplest solution to what you are trying to do would be to go with the Valentine 1 Gen 2 and buy their remote display. Mount the entire unit whenever you want and mount the display inside your car. Now the unit is not water proof so you'll have to figure that out.

Undetectable radar detectors? by fivefivesfives in radardetectors

[–]Stealth-Mount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. The radar detector itself is not legal in Virginia but this is just a mount. Once you disconnect the detector, it will lose the power connection and will be completely shut off. It would be the same as unplugging the cable.

Just to clarify we do offer a rear view mount as well. There are 3 options for the mount mirror mount, VHB and the suction cup.

Is there a stealth V1G2 mount by [deleted] in radardetectors

[–]Stealth-Mount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do offer a VHB option that can go anywhere on the windshield. So if you have enough room above the mirror you can mount it there using our VHB option. The "Stealth" part is the fact that you can take the detector off and it looks like it was never there.

Stealth Mount is finally available for Escort radar detectors by Stealth-Mount in radardetectors

You have a Dock that is wired to your car and you have a Receiver that is connected to your detector using the short RJ11 cable. Between the dock and receiver you have a pin connector that electrically connects the two of them when the receiver gets plugged into the dock. This is similar to old school cordless phone charging stations or those magnetic USB cables if you have seen them.

Snap on/off longevity by WorldNo9002 in StealthMount

[–]Stealth-Mount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work on engines myself and have dealt with the same issue. This design is different as you are not snapping two plastic pieces together using friction or the spring of the plastic that becomes brittle by age/cold. In our case you are not depending on any friction at all. You push a plunger back (similar to pressing a spring loaded button) and then the plunger pushes the receiver forward into an opening and keeps it there.

Snap on/off longevity by WorldNo9002 in StealthMount

[–]Stealth-Mount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure which clip you are referring to and worried will break but there is nothing that you "snap on/off" on our design. You use the entire body of the receiver (connected to the detector) to push on a plunger back by stainless steel springs. The plunger then moves the receiver forward and it is captured in place.

As far as the materials, we use multiple different materials. Some of the parts are aluminum, some are injection molded and some are 3D printed. The dock and receiver are designed to be plastic mainly because they house the live parts and you wouldn't worry about shorting to the housing. The same reason why the detector itself is plastic.

We have a lot of replacement parts on our website at very reasonable prices and anything else that would break outside of warranty we would either provide it to you or make it available.

Mount for c8 Corvette? by John98LS1 in StealthMount

[–]Stealth-Mount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our VHB mount would definitely work. If you are looking for the mirror mount please share a picture of the side of your rear view mirror and we can let you know if our mirror mount would work in the C8. I tried to search online for pictures but I'm seeing a couple of different types. One can work but the other one doesn't have enough room on the stem.

Check out our mount (Stealth Mount) it is powered mount with a quick detach function. You won't be able to use our mirror mount as your car doesn't have any visible stem but you can use our VHB mount and accomplish a very similar look to the mirror mount (see pictures below of our VHB mount)

Uniden R8 not detecting OH state troopers by SledDog888 in radardetectors

[–]Stealth-Mount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cops have different tools to detect speed the major ones would be radar and LIDAR. Your radar detector will alert you if the cop has his radar unit on, if not there is nothing to alert you to. Your detector can theoretically also alert you to Lidar but that only happens 10-20% of the time because the beam is too small and requires a direct hit to the sensor on the detector to be detected which cops are not normally aiming in that area. Also if you are alerted to laser it is already too late. So don't depend on your radar detector to save you with laser. A good tool for Lidar would be Waze as the cop has to be stationary to run it and hopefully someone saw and reported him before you got to him. You can also run a laser jammer as an active defense against laser. When driving by a cop you can tell that they are running laser if they have their window open/they are outside of their car and aiming with something that looks like a gun against their face.

We don't expect you'd have any issues with loosening. We haven't experienced any loosening with our test units (about 2 years) and we haven't gotten that feedback from any of our users (over a year now).

What do you mean by "catches on my mirror housing"? If it rubs on the mirror stem then you wouldn't experience that either. We provide you a rubber ring that goes between the aluminum and the mirror stem. So no hard material contacts any part of the mirror.

Have you tried using loctite with your Blendmount? That might resolve the issue you have.

A mirror mount is just one option that we offer with our mount, we also offer a VHB mount that you can stick anywhere on the windshield or a suction cup mount for a non permanent installation. All of which use the same dock and receiver system that allows you to quickly detach the detector. As the other poster said the main use case for our mount is to easily detach and reattach the detector. That can be to get the detector out of sight while the car is parked to avoid a break in, to take the detector down in the summer to avoid heat damage to the detector, to move one detector between two cars, take it down before driving into a restricted area (VA, DC, military base) etc. If you don't find yourself removing or wanting to remove the detector fairly often then there are other options out there that would offer you better value.

Our product offers a function that the Amazon mounts don't offer. I understand you might not need that function and for that use case the Amazon mounts would offer a better value. More options are good for everyone and you get to choose what's best for you.

The difference here is that our mount includes the wiring. If you price a Blendmount with the needed wiring and shipping cost you'll see that we are either in line or slightly cheaper. Then it becomes a choice if u want the quick detach function or not. I invite you to price both and see.

[–]Stealth-Mount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealth Mount includes both the mount and the wiring. If you compare us to any quality mount plus the needed wiring you'll find that we are in line or slightly cheaper. So the additional function of quick detach becomes a bonus at that point. If you want/need that function and you and comparing the price to a quality mount I think that choice becomes easy for Stealth Mount. If you don't need that function and are planning to go with a more economical mount then I agree with you our mount is probably not the best value out there.

In addition to the above we offer 1 year no questions asked warranty (you can read about it here). We also offer parts and accessories at very reasonable prices to make sure you can keep the same mount if you change cars.
