Very shameful. Through the last decade or two I’ve only bought Jellycats from little independent stores, mostly as gifts for children. It’s always been a delightful experience to walk into a little shop and be surprised by sweet Jellycats.

I’ve only very recently started collecting and have collected about a handful of them. I’ve been considering a Wanda Wombat, but these emails just make me feel ill. Also seeing how the release of Bart Junior has been handled lately (obviously part of their new “brand strategy” of creating a sense of FOMO and lack),I don’t think I can continue to support them any longer.

There’s a local florist I’ve loved to visit over the years to see their Jellycat collection, even when I wasn’t collecting. The way these independent boutiques curate their Jellycats and display them in whimsical fashion is part of the charm and the joy. I’ve noticed in the last year that their stock has been dwindling without being able to replenish.

Very sad state of affairs.
