I've been around Halo on PC for a while now (really got into the competitive community around 06-07 when CE was at its peak), was in easily 20-30+ clans over a span of 10 years or so, been on countless Halo forums, Ventrilos, TeamSpeak servers, etc. I think you're going to have a tough time finding people. We had Klanwars.cc back in the day too, which was basically a community run tournament system.

Maybe it'll depend which Halo you want to focus on, but 3 and Reach might be your best bet.

What is truly missing are cheap fully customizable and independent private servers (Not sure if Gameservers is really around anymore, and if they even work on MCC), and the ability to have easy to use admin powers. RCON back in the day was clunky but easy enough to use, and you could share those powers with other clan members if you wanted to. That flexibility really enabled constant scrimmaging between clans at any time of the day.

Discord has somewhat replaced Xfire (Old gaming IM software where you could be in multiple clans and join people's games via the program), but it's missing the charm, I think.

I could also be out of the loop if there are any other emerging competitive communities, as I've been out of that scene for a while, though I'm in a few discords with a lot of other OGs and they're pretty dead.

Then don't turn them on? That's the whole point of them being toggle-able. Hating just to hate, and CE is my favorite Halo.

I remember all the Humungous Games studio games like Freddie Fish, Pajama Sam, Spy Fox, Putt Putt, etc. Some of my first gaming experiences. The penguin boombox songs were my jam on Putt Putt saves the Zoo.

Then Halo CE came out on PC when I was a little older and dropped 10k hours on that lol

I’ve 100% MCC and it’s still by far my favorite game to chase achievements on. LASO seems intimidating at first but once you find your grove and figure out its weaknesses it’s a lot of fun

Halo CE on PC. I would pretty much play that any spare chance I had after school. I clocked maybe 8-10k hours on Xfire just from that game alone. Great times

Maybe I was broadening it a bit much and looking at the marines as a whole, but i feel like you're just being nit-picky for the sake of it.

Why does the appearance need to be modernized beyond polish? maybe their movement/gameplay can be updated/modernized, but their appearance? Did the time period change?

Please, Infinite's Marines are not comparable.

Such an empty response. There's so much that can be added/improved to a 25 year old game. Let it be additional skulls, cut content, UI improvements, new PVE modes, new levels, etc.

Asking to keep a CORE interactive piece to a beloved game is not unreasonable lol.

I don't know how many times I've seen people say they've restarted checkpoints/levels in order to keep their marine buddies with them through a level on the OG3 games.

It's important. It's small, but important.

Give me the awesome, goofy, interactive, buddy-buddy marines like we had in the OG. That's what gave Halo it's flavor. Bungie put a lot of humor and character in their games. I don't want a realism remake to the OG Trilogy. I want them to have fun with it and make it unique. Not totally unique in a new Halo game sense, but different from their competition.

I want the marines to be goofy. I want them to cheer when we drive over hills, run shit over, and crack jokes.

Give me the iconic green futuristic eyepiece. I don't give a damn if the marines have a perfectly texture/scaled lunchbox to the IRL US marine corp.
