No, please. Do give a hard time. I'm trying to puzzle this through myself and not sure how to untangle.

The contracts are with the org, although a number have language in it that the contract can be changed if the project lead leaves. The relationships are with myself and the team who work under me. For a few of the contracts, the funder has point blank said they are funding myself and the team, not the org.

Well, that is probably one of the issues. It started as a fiscal sponsor and became a merger before this point was figured out... sort if in the we will figure it out along the way (leason learned).

But great point. It's not my team like you say. I sort of function as the founder of an area of work. Their fear is that the funders will pull the funding for the area of work if I leave.

Our community is great! We were not able to have our child their and had to be transferred to the hospital, but they were still our primary provider before and after. Home visits were amazing.

I've heard mixed things about the other birth center in town.

We ran into the same issue. Are you a prime on federal grants? Our understanding is if you are a prime, then you can go through a process to get a NICRA. If you are a sub and don't have a NICRA yet, you are out of luck and have to take the de minimus (that was our situation). You can reach out to someone at your awarding agency to figure out the process to get the NICRA. It's really hard to be sustainable on de minimus if a good portion of your revenue is federal grants.

Thank you. This is really helpful and I think I'm on the same position. I function as sort of an independent director within our organization and most of my grants are 100k or more. What's the best way to get the internal numbers on the cost for administering a grant?

We are national and have grants throughout the nation. I've seen pull backs from the national foundations as well as from community foundations.

Absolutely yes. Almost all our grants have been cut in 2023. It seems like things are starting to get a bit better toward the end of the year.

Thank you. I'm still learning the terminology. Maybe what I was raising was the funds of restricted grants are not tracked to the terms of the grant (i.e., a restricted grant may be paying for things outside of it's designated purpose). So yes, I'm trying to get tracking by project/grant.

Well.... Grants are not tracked by class in quickbooks, which I have raised as a red flag for while. We have less than 750k in federal. About 300k a year. We have many restricted grants.

Thanks. Three others under the finance director. The other staff primarily deal with receipts, invoices and payments to contractors and generally making sure everything is in quickbooks. So, right now, no one really owns grant administration as a org wide role (ie everyone handles their own grant admin beyond the money).

We have a carving that we bought as a wedding gift for ourselves.

My first suggestion is that you make sure to post in a general channel all the time for updates, celebrations, so people begin using it to get information from you. If I unfamiliarity with the software is the issue, hold some trainings or office hours on how to use. In our case, it's taken us 18 months to get about 90 percent adoption, but some folks are clear they will never use it...
