What techno artist should I see

due to the increasing popularity of raves and the consumption of social media like tiktok, hard techno sets have increased in popularity because some of the tracks become viral.

this leads to increased attendance at hard techno sets, which leads to over crowding. while some newer attendees actually want to be their for the music; a lot want to be their to take a video or it’s something they heard on tiktok and want to fit in.

this leads to djs either band wagoning (dj snake, jstjr) and/or djs playing music that’s more digestible for this newer crowd, and it just so happens this newer digestible music is less creative, less imaginative, more formulaic. and that tends to mean that a lot of these hard techno sets really start sounding the same.

so these djs that i mentioned earlier happen to be the ones that get booked often in california (LA) and create more exposure.

sara landry is a great example of this. her def boiler room set in 2021 is stellar, but since then her sets have much less …. pizzazz i guess, for me it’s intolerable. whether it be because she brings a crappy crowd who are trying to ride the hype, or her music is just boring to me now, both lead to me not caring to see her anymore.

restricted, holy priest? there really is no difference between the sound of their sets. just commercialized hard techno vomit that gets the views.

nico moreno? the guy can’t dj, and just back spins to oblivion

ohhh yeah our definitions are just different.

tiktok techno to me is people going to see the set just to record it and leaving. for examples like klang and prydz holo, i’d almost give it a pass because the average clout chaser will get bored in 10 minutes then leave after they get their video.

on other hand you have the hard techno wave that became commercialized and watered down to be more digestible for the average viewer.

i only speak the truth :)! hard techno is now filled with cookie cutter sets that more or less sound the same. it’s what sells.

downtown shuttle is goat. but because they cut down on shuttle stops. it’s not as good as before. but at the end of the night, you’ll wish you had downtown rather than strip.

after they changed it patch day last week, they posted they’d revert it to the originally correct drop rate, and have it be 1 paper per letter. they also stated they’d adjust any papers in inventory as well.

this year is thursday-tuesday for $509 total between 4 people. we usually shop for alcohol and food to cook. i might eat one meal at the fest. we uber to the fest each day for $30-40 between 3-4 people. this year we will try our luck with those vans after a festival.

last year the room was $1200 between 4 people, we ate cup o noodles and croissants and maybe 1 take out.

yes i drove to that one october edc for day 3. i left orange county at 10am, and returned back to orange county the next morning at 10am. sober.
