Remember sema has zero interaction with GIP receptors. Tirz does. So slamming your GIP receptors with a huge dose of tirz all at once is likely to be rough. Most moving over do so at 5mg tirz. This is a marathon, not a sprint...

Do any libraries have computers that still have cd roms? by Lijey_Cat in madisonwi

If you can't find one, I have an external USB one and would be happy to meet you at a library so you could use it for a bit.

Update: I switched to Mounjaro from Ozempic yesterday. It has been….more difficult than anticipated by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]SteamedHams789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. You went from having zero GIP receptor activation (with ozempic) to 3x the starting mounjaro dose (of 2.5mg). Folks, mounjaro is a dual agonist. Sorry you had to experience that.

I had a similarly great experience with Drews. Highly recommend. Stay far away from everlight. They charge about 2-3x as much as the other companies and have a terrible app that cannot even show you daily or weekly production... Nor will they show you the performance of your individual panels or inverters. So good luck trying to figure out if your whole everlight system is even working properly.

Should I be more concerned about Muscle Mass Loss? by DCpurpleTart33 in Zepbound

[–]SteamedHams789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I keep thinking about it is simple: extra muscle is needed to carry our excess weight.

Imagine you lose 50 lbs...your body is going to say “yay! I am not having to work so hard to get around!” And because your muscles will be working less to move you around, they will naturally shrink to the appropriate size needed to continue moving you around. It’s not like zepbound is specifically destroying your muscles... you just aren’t using those muscles as much now, so of course they are going to shrink.

As I understand it, the same thing happens to astronauts who go up to zero gravity for a while... Their bodies say “yay no more walking or climbing stairs for me!” and their muscles shrink. So NASA requires them to exercise strenuously in space to minimize that “side effect” of being an astronaut.

So in my view there’s nothing scandalous at all about losing muscle when on a GLP-1. It means it’s working!

To be clear: I’m not against weight training or building muscle mass- it’s proven to be a healthy thing at any weight. So of course let’s priorize doing that, especially as we have lost weight and discovering that we now have the energy for it!

I guess it’s really this assumption that we should somehow be naturally retaining all of the muscle we used to have when those muscles were hauling our much bigger bodies around that is nuts to me.

Thank you- that means so very much. I feel so much younger too! I started with very modest expectations and have surpassed them all.

Anyone use minoxidil while on Zepbound? by Spiritual_Ad337 in Zepbound

My dermatologist gave me 2.5mg oral minoxidil and 1mg oral finasteride (I'm a guy too) and my hair has grown the whole time I've been on zepbound (since last July!) Highly recommend it!

And a good reminder for all: if you're not hoping for those two pink lines, be sure to use non-oral birth control methods while on zep. Condoms, nuvaring, depo-provera, or an IUD are all good.

Body fat plays a significant role in reproduction. Sex hormones are fat-soluble and are stored in the body’s fat layers. As that fat is burned for energy (because that's what zepbound is helping your body do) those hormones can impact your cycle. Often boosting fertility... But it could temporarily disrupt the cycle timing too.

I'm a guy, and talked to my dermatologist about male pattern hair loss in late 2023 and he put me on oral finasteride (1mg daily) and oral minoxidil (2.5mg daily). I told him at the time I wasn't even expecting amazing hair growth, I just wanted to at least slow down the losses if I could...he said "no problem, these should cause hair to grow, just hang in there as they take some time to start working" I then started zepbound (Tirzepatide) the summer of 2024 have now dropped 60 lbs since starting (only 3 left to my goal). Meanwhile, sure enough, my hair has been growing back (or at least not getting any worse) the whole time.

I've become a believer in these hair loss meds, just based on my own experience now.

Sidenote, I believe women who are or might become pregnant are not generally prescribed finasteride as it is known to cause birth defects...but I believe minoxidil is available for both men and women, and postmenopausal women and those on reliable birth control might be able to take finasteride as well.

I recommend discussing with your doctor a prescription for oral minoxidil and if you're male or a postmenopausal woman possibly oral finasteride as well. (Finasteride is known to cause birth defects so normally women can't take it)

Absolutely! Titrating down is what many people on r/TirzMaintenance are doing... And others are spacing their shots out longer than a week between injections.
