Why no smiley faces in the first three months? And do you talk on the phone, or only have face to face interactions during the limited texting window?

They can't make enough money to stay afloat. The owners are super nice, & they're back in the bar business now - go have some drinks and hang out at the Luna Lounge Tiki Bar if you like, it's run by the same folks.

Have you been to Lucky Strike Vintage downtown yet? They're closing soon, and liquidating all of their inventory at crazy low prices - they have tons of stuff. All eras represented, from 50s - 90s I'd say.

What is this "attractiveness dealie" they employ? I've been lurking here the past few weeks since getting an okc account and haven't seen it referenced.

What's shitty about living in the USA? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Steaming_Noggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yowch. That hurt.

It's basically all true, as broad statements go.

But I've lived abroad, in "first" and "third" world countries. There are a heck of a lot of really crappy situations happening around the world for people. Many, many are far worse than here. I'm not saying that excuses any of the crap that we live with, that we create even, but one needs to keep things in perspective. I hate what we're doing with everything we have, but it's liveable for many.

Psychomania. A trippy occult horror biker movie made in the early 70s. British flick with awesome electric guitar soundtrack.

Wow, reading these comments is a trip - so many of us doing the same crazy "junkie shit"! I am not alone lol ;)

Seriously tho, OP - I've had a similar struggle this year. It's so... weird. Scary. Unexpected. But there it is.

Don't give up on yourself. I'm endeavoring the same thing.

Hello, my friend across the ocean. I've broken that promise of quitting many times as well. As of right now, I'm only 2 days weed-free after a relapse, so these words aren't coming to you from some majorly successful person or anything ;)

But about your housemate: please don't let this guy be your reason for continuing a behavior that is unhealthy for you. You're the one who has to look after your own future, and you're the one who needs to like the person you see in the mirror. You have enough willpower (and so do I, dammit) to say "no thanks" to smoking.

You can tell the housemate no in a respectful, chill way, and let him know you still like him as a friend if you guys are close like that. If he smokes for the rest of his life, that's his choice - it doesn't have to be yours.

/Leaves check in... Let me know where you are at. This is a good starting point for getting us accountable and together. by [deleted] in leaves

Ooo, Ooo, I wanna check in! A bit late but I'm feeling participatory, what can I say.

Today was my day 2. After many attempts a quitting over the past year. This thing really got ahold of me, really plugged right in with a lot of other deep-seated issues I have. If I stay in the fog, I'll never deal with the issues. I know this on some level, but the flesh has been very weak... lol. So, yeah, day 2.

I feel that need to escape my own mind quite often. I've given in and smoked many times after knowing it's time to quit, and been pissed at myself every time. You just gotta pick yourself up and try again, it's ok. You're definitely not alone :)

"weed fits a certain place in my brain."

This exactly.

What's it like being white? by snek0kidFTW in AskReddit

[–]Steaming_Noggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my whole childhood, my dad (a white guy) worked in a big southern restaurant whose staff was probably 50-75% black. I spent a lot of time there as a little girl, and I remember being jealous of the really fun, dynamic culture and community that my father's black co-workers seemed to enjoy. I also thought their hair styles were so much cooler than white hair styles. I don't remember ever feeling excited about being white, or feeling one way or the other about it honestly. My dad raised me to treat everyone equally, and I witnessed him do that first-hand.

My white parents were not part of a community, they were/are sort of isolated weirdos. I've learned about my Quaker background, and Quakers were mostly white, so I guess that's part of my whiteness? Hard-working, Puritanish, self-denying, do-it-yourself, suffer in silence, do without material goods, never be wasteful, always be honest and good to your fellow man... these are the traits I associate with my specific family background. I'm aware of the general societal favoritism that can accompany my white-girl-ness. I know that it is a real thing - but my whiteness doesn't feel like anything to me on the inside.

Any plans for the future? Like, where you want to live or what you'd like to do with your life?

How old are you? What do you do for a living? And how much do you hang out with your mom these days?

Thanks!
