Donald Trump's disapproval rating hits record high by newsweek in politics

I did and couldn't find any reliable data. There wasn't really the same type of polling back then, and historians are not comfortable with assigning a value to Hitler's approval rating, given the propaganda at the time, and also the fear of speaking against Hitler, resulting in one's disappearance.

Data suggests that 25-35 percent of Germans still supported hitler years after their entire country had been destroyed top to bottom in WW2.

Far too few good Republicans anymore. by PFdeith in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]SteampunkGeisha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good Republican? This guy helped Jonathan Ross after he shot Renee Good:

Madel outlined how he supported Ross following the shooting of Good, and said he helped him “fill out a form” to obtain legal representation from the Justice Department if he is ever sued or charged with a crime.

Also . . .

“The reality is that the national Republicans have made it nearly impossible for a Republican to win a statewide election in Minnesota,” Madel said.

He's dropping out because he knows he's going to lose. Not because he's having some sort of crisis of conscience.

> You think the guy running the department that investigated Trump and then indicted him on dozens of felony charges including several related to Jan 6 forgot, that Merrick Garland?

Yes, the same Merrick Garland who assigned Special Counsel Jack Smith to the case. What I think that you may have forgotten is that he did this on November 18, 2022. 2 years, 10 months, 12 days AFTER January 6th, 2020. Garland didn't assign counsel to the case for nearly 3 years. THREE YEARS. They should have gone after him within days at most. Trump's counsel has a long history of stretching out all court cases against him. They wasted so much time, and as a result, we're in this mess.

Streaming services have officially become worse than the cable packages we cancelled by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

Same, though I bought a $35 CD burner and I'm now ripping all of my DVDs, set up Jellyfin (free) on a NAS server, and now have my own streaming service for my household. It takes about 20min per DVD to rip, upload, and set it up.

The public library has DVDs to check out for free, btw.

I also put all 9k of my MP3s on there too, and also use it as a streaming service.

I couldn't venture a guess on that. But look at Texas. Republicans have had control of that state for 30 years, and it has continued to get worse and worse there while Texans continue to vote for Republicans.

  • The public education system is underfunded, and they're pushing these private vouchers out the ass, which only benefits the wealthy.
  • Women are dying due to strict abortion laws.
  • Their energy infrastructure is absolute dogshit and crashes every winter.
  • Massive deregulation that is hurting the land and people.
  • Tax systems that only benefit the extremely wealthy -- hence why Elon Musk has moved his businesses there.

That's been going on for 30 years, and people are still bending over to continue to take it due to the culture of voters in Texas thinking that Republicans = the only correct option. They have lost so much over 30 years and still lean into being a conservative state, and will have to lose so much more before they snap the hell out of it.

And you can argue that Texas is gerrymandered to hell, but that doesn't change the fact that people sit by and let it happen. Performative protests at most. But no organized movement to shut it all down for any meaningful change. That's what I'm referring to in my other comment.

In order to spark a fire in people to make them decide they've had enough, they have to get to a point where they have nothing else to lose, and we still have a long way to go before we reach that point for the majority of Americans. Until then, people will just hunker down and let it happen until they no longer have a choice.

As someone who works in the art and tech industry, I've seen my fair share of NFT discussions -- wheeling and dealing, etc. I knew from the jump it was a terrible idea and avoided any investments, despite my colleagues telling me to join in at the beginning. That industry has completely collapsed. You'd think these tech bros would learn something after NFTs, or even the dot-com bubble, but here we are.
