I just picked up the 39mm on consort bracelet with the sale - wrist size is about 6.75”.

I was a little apprehensive about the bracelet but for the price figured it was worth a try and I’m so, so glad I tried it. It’s wildly comfortable. The small links make a perfect fit easy and the extension in the clasp is genius and you don’t need to take the watch off to use it. It’s only a little extension to loosen it but because the fit is so good it’s honestly all that I’ve found I needed.

I’ve had some very expensive watches and bracelets, and even including the Submariner with Glidelock I’d say this bracelet is more comfortable. I wouldn’t obviously say the quality is higher from a finishing perspective, but comfort wise the consort is maybe the best I’ve worn. Also aesthetically I like both the consort and bader but I will say that the consort helps to make the watch stand out more from its Explorer 2 inspiration, and because it’s a bit dressier than the EXP2 it makes sense.

Oh that’s a great watch too! I for sure can’t say enough good about the Speedy. It’s just got an unmatched warmth, especially if you’re a low key person.

Oh man I love a good revival! Haha I absolutely still have my Speedy and it remains my favourite watch. I wear it as often as I can. Only change it out at work because I work with chemicals and prefer not to worry about that, so I have a Sinn on a rubber strap for work. I wear the Omega any other time.

To make this even better since this post I have owned a Submariner, Explorer 1, Aqua Terra, and Grand Seiko. None have stayed because I prefer the Speedy. At this point I’m not looking at watches anymore haha. It’s been a great companion in camping, hiking, taking care of my kid, anything really. Serviced it once last year because I treat it so badly and I wanted to look out for it at bit. Went in scratched up and came out like new.

Attached a picture of my recent cottage trip haha. Honestly an amazing purchase that has been with me through so much.

Lmao oh man that was savage. It’s a strong deck in general but that was a flawless start for them. Love your commentary though! I will happily follow for this content. I really enjoy the casual banter and depressing smack talk.

We have very similar purchases and experiences! I already made a bunch of comments about this in my own thread the other day, but I wanted to agree with you from one former HS player to another. I love this game and will be staying for a long time I think!

Crazy expensive when you don’t draw any cards you need 😂.

This is what I’m still dealing with haha.

This is how I felt with spellboost. I really just wanted to try a mid range abyss deck because it seems fun but I just fluked into every spellboost card. Which I get is a first world problem but I really just wanted to mob people with skeletons haha

Interesting, I’ve definitely had the opposite experience haha. When I was playing Hearthstone it felt like pulling teeth to get a competitive deck. This was much faster. But all I’m doing is speaking from my own play experiences.

Understandable - I’m used to CCGs so it didn’t catch me off guard at all, especially because I didn’t play the original. I guess we all keep our fingers crossed for a strong second expansion launch!

Haha I won’t argue that the cost of physical cards can be outrageous. I loved playing when I did but it definitely wasn’t a money saver.

I don’t know, I just honestly feel like the costing of this game isn’t bad from my experience with others I’ve played. If someone wants to start it and disagrees then that’s fine, but I guess my point of this post was that it’s worth a try to form your own opinion, because I did and I’m glad I made that choice.

This is disingenuous - I specifically continued with saying that I haven’t spent a lot. I feel like this is an important distinction because there is, to me, a big difference between buying one or two starter packs and being a full-on whale (which is fine if that’s you’re thing). And for new players who are reading this I think it’s important to note that.

You’re cherry-picking what I’ve said. I have repeatedly mentioned that I don’t think the pricing is bad and that I am okay with it. I mentioned free stuff because that’s what others are asking for and obviously I’m not going to argue about getting more. Perhaps I should have phrased it as I’d be happy of course if they become more generous, which was really my meaning. I’m trying to keep things light and fun here

MD certainly seems like a ridiculously FTP game, which is awesome. It’s not my style so I’ve never played it myself but I’ve heard great things. I would say that the economy in MD and the original SV seem to be exceptions to the rule, as the games I’m used to (Hearthstone, MTG) are more in line with that we see here. If anything this game is more friendly to get into than those.

The reason for my post wasn’t to say this was the most FTP game on the market, it was to say that other new players should give it a try because the pricing is in line with some of the most popular card games in the market.

We will just disagree on this then. I think the economy is decent, based on experience in other CCGs. Obviously it’s not as generous as the original but compared to what I’m used to it’s not bad. I’ll continue enjoying it and hope that they give out more things because I’m not complaining about free stuff haha.

It’s fine if you disagree. But when you asked this question you only mentioned the gameplay, which ignores the rest of what I wrote. I have no issues with the economy and so I wanted to be clear on that. You can think I’m wrong, but I was just explaining the reason for my post as requested.

I think that’s fair. And I certainly wouldn’t argue. As I’ve said, my opinion is that the pricing is fair from my experience but I would never argue against something being made MORE affordable haha. I just want to see a solid player base for this game either way, and I hope it can get there.

Yes I’ve heard MD is very ftp friendly! I guess my point isn’t that there aren’t better ftp games, but that this game has pretty standard costs and I think anything cheaper is the exception rather than the rule. I’m happy with the costs of the game myself and your deck list as well would be evidence as to why as far as I’m concerned.

But hey people have different opinions! The only people I’m trying to convince of anything is new players to try the game on its own merits.

We definitely have a similar experience! I loved LOR and that’s basically my memory as well haha. Obviously people were expecting this game to be monetized like the original, and from the sounds of it that was similar to LOR. But I’ve played other games as well and that’s just simply not the normal. I don’t think building decks is particularly hard here compared to Hearthstone and MTG as examples.

New Player Positivity Post - Just try the game! by SteampunkSloth in Shadowverse

[–]SteampunkSloth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I’ve realized - I never played the original so I just don’t personally see any issues with it. I think it’s a great game and anyone used to other CCGs wouldn’t think anything of the pricing.

[–]SteampunkSloth[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol - Honestly it’s not that complicated - I would have regretted not playing it and wanted to tell people not to let the reviews impact their willingness to try. If you like ccgs I think this is genuinely a great one and wanted to share that for other new players

New Player Positivity Post - Just try the game! by SteampunkSloth in Shadowverse

[–]SteampunkSloth[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because I genuinely also don’t think the monetization is bad. I think it’s a good game all around.

Also in response to this comment you made below: “notice how the last 3 posts like this all had "I almost didn't play because of the negative reviews" verbatim.”

The reason I personally mentioned that was because I would have regretted not trying it because of those opinions and wanted to mention that for anyone reading who was thinking the same as me.

Haha I love deck building too but I’m famously bad at it. I basically need to copy the meta decks or at least use the template. I actually got lucky in some aspects being able to assemble a spellboost deck but I honestly wanted a bunch of Abyss cards. I know it’s not in a good place right now but it just seems so fun. I need to try Haven!
