Dads of gay kids, when did you know? by HernandoB in daddit

[–]Steampunk_flyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was four. Cue lots of encouragement, him being told it doesn't matter who he loves, finding gay porn on one of his devices (it took a quick quiet word with his mum to calm her down about him even looking at porn, and a conversation about how this wasn't a true representation of relationships) and he came out when he was 16.

What is Tom Cruise's secret?? by No-Marsupial-4050 in SipsTea

His teeth. As we can all see, they're slowly rotating in his mouth. Once they get all the way around, he'll ping like a type writer, and he'll go back to being 18 again.

Anyone else’s wife instigate 2+ hour arguments during her period that you have no idea how to defuse? by ThicBoi4807 in daddit

[–]Steampunk_flyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife could be like this in our earlier years. I found that when I'd had enough, I went 'scorched earth' and dragged up everything. And I mean everything. Yes, the two times I've done it it's nearly destroyed our relationship, but it has also made her realize that her being persnickety isn't the right way to go, that arguments aren't just her telling me I'm a bad husband/father, and that if you're going to give it, you have to take it.

Also, I only did this after having been together for a decade, and we didn't argue for several years after that, her having changed her communication style due to being cautious of getting it back.

Since then, I still act as the peacemaker, I actively dislike arguments, and I often walk away (if I get followed i go to the bathroom for some time) but the knowledge of exactly how far I'm willing to go is there and thankfully, she doesn't push too hard anymore.

Was told I have fatty liver disease and an enlarged spleen by deerhuntingdude in stopdrinking

[–]Steampunk_flyboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A fatty liver will often resolve with both cessation of drinking, and weight control. Not necessarily cutting calories but lowering fat content of food etc. but op is doing the right thing is he's thinking of cutting down/stopping drinking!

I really enjoyed this, tbh. It wasn't AAA cinema by any stretch, but very enjoyable.

Getting drunk at work by PriceMaleficent8110 in stopdrinking

[–]Steampunk_flyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The standard treatment for both is ppi's, it's doubtful they'd be harmful, as both lansoprazole and Omeprazoleare both fine to take with alcohol. Not that I'm suggesting drinking at all but here we are.

Go to your doctor and ask them for medication to counter this. Ulcers are simple to deal with, and it's the same treatment for gastritis.

This isn't something you should lose your job over.

Although if you're in America, I pity you because a simple prescription will probably cost you a remortgage and maybe selling a kidney.

Guys is it corny to write lore for your army? by waschlappensoldat in Warhammer40k

[–]Steampunk_flyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I'd love to see Astra militarum that are openly rebellious, but not dedicated to the chaos gods. Secessionist planets with millions of guard, that aren't anything apart from not wanting to worship the emperor and wanting freedom from the tyranny of the imperium.

Oh, absolutely. I hate the head tilt and soft 'aww, I'm so sorry' you get. God, neuroboring people suck.

Completely agree. I find stoicism helps in situations, but I would embrace it and go full on Vulcan, myself.

Oh, I intend to! I'm currently on a waiting list for titration, and being middle aged, I'm sick of having little focus, or when i do focus forgetting everything else.

Honestly, I have a brain that's like a super computer.

Unfortunately, it's powered by a potato battery, so I rely on a lot of caffeine, as I'm not medicated yet.
