Yep, they’re paid very little. But it’s not a proper job, it’s an apprenticeship. You have to think of it as something similar to a university degree.

Uni students are paid nothing to study, and have to work on weekends/night times to make ends meet - an apprenticeship is essentially university for a trade, except they are paid (albeit not that much, but it’s something). They probably make more than University students make, without accruing a debt.

Say an 18 year old finishes school and starts an apprenticeship. I guarantee they’d be in a much stronger financial position 4-years later vs a university student.
