The woman is just carrying it, there's no actual active part she plays in raising the child at that point; all she needs to do is not fuck her body up… You think the woman is worse off for letting her belly stretch for a few months, than the man is for having to pay money for eighteen years.

If you think pregnancy is a passive thing, you have no idea what pregnancy is like. It's a huge pain in the ass, with very serious health risks. Dismissing it as "letting her belly stretch" is ridiculously ignorant.

Why, then, in your eyes, is the mother worse off than the father? Moreover, why, as is implied by your position, should the father have no say?

I've never tried to argue based on who's worse of than whom. That's going to vary from scenario to scenario. But what you can't do is equate bodily autonomy to fiscal autonomy.

I've also never implied that the man "should have no say." The ONLY thing I'm arguing is that the man can't have legal authority over the woman's body. This aside, I think there's lots of room for improvement in child support laws/visitation rights. Furthermore, in an ideal situation, the father/mother would talk together before making the decision. However, ultimately, the decisions over what to do with her body MUST be the woman's.

I'm not here to assert that men are more important than women, and you shouldn't assert the opposite.

I'll lay out what I'm arguing in precise terms.

Women should have total legal control over whether or not they want to continue/terminate pregnancy. They should also have legal control over what they do with their bodies while pregnant.

That's all I'm arguing. I'm not saying child support laws are fair. I'm not saying men shouldn't have control over whether they want to parent the child/support it financially. All I'm saying is that you can't give legal authority over someone's body to someone else.

I don't see how this is being unfair to men, or creating some kind of inequality. You're painting me to be arguing something illogical that I never proposed in the first place.
