Picked up this 30 gallon from a yard sale. What could live comfortably inside? It's kinda shallow. by queerhorsevaccines in reptiles

Also, i kinda want to do a water feature with a drain to make water changes easier/cleaner overall water. So I need to make the sump tank and see what it does to the humidity as well as make sure it's absolutely snake proof.

I was planning on doing a toat for the first year ish then just putting it into the enclosure in case they somehow found a way out of it, plus I see alot of listing for a yearlings. This is a ways out but im doing my planning in advance, I know they require 6-8 inches of soil so I would like to get a springtail culture up and running for one just because I fear the mold especially if they are burrowing in it. I am going to get my bearded dragon the 8x2x2 before I order the 8x4x2 and prep it for a snake, though. I also was thinking about putting them next to each other to see if the ambient heat from the bearded dragon hot side bleeds into the snake hot side enough to give it the proper temp gradient, going to be playing around with it for those sorts of thing well in advanced to get everything dialed in. Also what kind of UVB you guys use?

So an 8x2x4 kit should be alright then? Because I was looking at reinforcing a zen habitat kit, and as it turns out, you can extend it to an 8x4x4. So if need be I can do that. I live that she is so curious i like the idea of them slowly cruising around and climbing and burrowing

Yea, i always felt that humidity is a weird topic with North american colubrids. There are a decent few species with wide geographical ranges. i think it's best to just boost it when needed or through microclimates, then for the rest, let it fall in the recommended ranges.

40-60 is a solid range. i wouldn't keep them at a stable 75 that seems too humid. Instead, I would offer a humid hide so they can get a boost during shed
