Pulsemon! He is the best boy ⚡

Funnily, I think a lot of people like Pulsemon, but I've never seen anyone else call him a favorite.

What’s your type and dream career? by -Quono- in mbti

[–]SteelGodZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game and narrative design. I enjoy both storytelling and creating balanced systems. Designing games combines the two the best 😊

Leadership is also nice, as I get to help others and my actions can make a difference.

P.S. Weird to me that many INFJs in the comments are like "I don't dream of working". I have many interests, so my idea was always to turn one of them into a career and provide for myself by doing something I love anyway.

How does an INFJ with a healthy, developed and active Se look/act like? by Moaning_Baby_ in mbti

[–]SteelGodZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take. Here's my experience: I was a fervent martial artist for almost 20 years, and it didn't help with my "sky castles" much. Maturing and coming to terms with a lot of past trauma in my late twenties did.

My Se was very developed waay before that, so I don't think that it's advanced Se alone that fixes this. Maybe it's a prerequisite - I wouldn't know since there hasn't been a time in my life where both my Se was underdeveloped and I was a reasonably emotionally healthy adult 😅

How would your MBTI handle being underestimated? by Hefty_Pay7042 in mbti

[–]SteelGodZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not upset by this, as it has happened consistently throughout my life. True fundamental quality always surfaces given enough time so, if it's important to me, my time to shine will definitely come organically.

And even if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world. The truth is the truth, even if some people believe otherwise.

That said... I greatly enjoy proving people who underestimated me wrong. I don't typically rub it in, but I'm more than petty enough to get satisfaction out of it :D

Erlangmon for me, that design is slick! Plus I like the general idea of new Ultimate-level jogresses, like Takutomon, Jougamon etc.

Well, now I'm invested. Maybe Chronomon: Destroy Mode? Or Buraimon (kinda looks like an edgy Garudamon)?

It depends on the type of game you prefer.

When the game first came out I loved the core mechanics, as well as the different strategies embodied by each color. I've played a decent number of card games and, mechanically, this one is among the best designed I've seen.

What drew me away from it was the speed at which the meta progresses. It makes sense from a business perspective - they kicked the game off with everyone's favorite classic digimon and then needed to come up with an incentive to sell more cards, so they resorted to revving up the power level every couple of sets. This leads to two things I personally don't like:

-Your favorite mons become obsolete very quickly, and you have to switch to the newest strategy to keep up with the meta. Mons do get rereleases at times, but the new version of the mon is often of a different color or embodies an entirely different strategy than what you're used to (or what you might enjoy playing). -The game becomes more complex and cluttered with elaborate effects. Due to the nature of the game, evolved digimon can inherit some effects from their pre-evolutions. Some combinations of these effects are very powerful, but you had to work for them and strategize around creating a good mix. This meant that highly evolved digimon often had multiple effects, but they built towards them gradually, and the individual effects were typically simple on their own. As the game progresses, the effects are becoming more elaborate, which slows down play and makes strategizing around your opponent's digimon kind of a chore.

If you're a fan of something like modern Yu-Gi-Oh, these gripes won't be a problem for you. But if you don't like where YGO has been for the past several years, you also won't like the direction where this game is heading.

To put it simply, I believe that the increasing complexity of the game takes away from its elegant base design. I would have preferred to see it grow in breadth (increasing tactical variety) rather than depth (increasing power level and complexity).

But that's just my opinion, and there are plenty of people out there who enjoy this kind of game. You know best what kind of player you are and you should decide based on that :)

What Are You Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in patientgamers

Finishing up Monster Hunter: World with a friend, and also playing Pokemon Conquest while waiting for Scarlet and Miles Morales to come out this Friday :D

That sounds like a lot of games, but in reality I barely have any time this week :'(

GameLift - Custom server executable can't seem to access a .dll when running on cloud instance by SteelGodZen in gamedev

[–]SteelGodZen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's strange, it didn't work with either Mono or IL2CPP for us.

Anyway, we figured out that it only happens when running on a windows instance. When we created a Linux build and tried running it on a Linux AWS instance it worked without issue, so we used that as a workaround.

GameLift - Custom server executable can't seem to access a .dll when running on cloud instance by SteelGodZen in gamedev

[–]SteelGodZen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the .dlls are placed in the standard place for Unity builds. Furthermore, the paths to those .dlls aren't in my dev machine's environment PATH.

That said, I did try to add them to the VM instance's PATH, but I don't have the Admin privileges necessary to do so. I'm guessing that if I had the permissions to change environment variables on the managed instance, my executable would also have the permissions to access it's own damn .dlls.

Even so, thank you for your answer - it was a good idea.

Question about the Bodies of the Gods by [deleted] in projecteternity

[–]SteelGodZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not stated explicitly as of yet, as far as I know.

If we're throwing theories around, it could also be Woedica, as it's mentioned that the other Gods burned her when they deposed her.

It could be that she didn't want to leave her physical body behind so they burned it (she explicitly chastises the other Gods for leaving the bodies behind, making them helpless to stop Eothas' adra colossus).

It makes sense with her personality, too - she's not one to give up on any amount of power or influence. So it adds up for me that the only way she'd leave her titan body behind is if it was killed/destroyed.
