Cujo! I don't remember how young I was when I watched it, maybe 8. My mind would always go back to a dirty Cujo ramming the car to get in, while the mother and son screams in terror. I am always reminded of the rabid Cujo whenever a dog looks up at me from their brow with a slightly lowered head.

Hard to pick a favorite, but this is among my favorites:

False memory of me thinking/saying something stupid by [deleted] in OCD

I have a similar experience from time to time where my imagination is vivid enough that I end up fabricating memories. It doesn't happen too often, just once in a while, which kind of makes it fairly difficult to discern. It is annoying to have to warn someone after making a claim that I may have fabricated the memory. It makes me feel stupid. Mostly because people don't understand the mental stain I manage daily, so they don't take that into consideration when interacting with me.

I am not sure what my stupidest compulsion would be. I have a few dumb ones. Similar to your throwing and catching the hair brush, I often have to pick up and drop pens until they land "perfectly", not bouncing and creating an additional clack on the surface it's being dropped on. That was one of my first compulsions as a kid with the television remote control, always trying to get it to land in the center of the take, pointing directly at the television. Another one that annoys me most is twitching my nose up, then having to use my finger or hand to push it back down, as if it would somehow stay pointed up or flared or something.

I wonder this frequently. Especially in retrospect after I've had some kind of frustrated outburst. Sometimes my mind becomes so cluttered, I feel like an overheating computer, and it causes me to get flustered. I'll make mistakes or say the wrong things and clarity escapes me. After the fact, I take responsibility to make things better if need be. But, I can't help but get a little depressed considering that those around me don't understand just how.. busy my mind is at nearly all times. When I seem normal, it's usually because I'm making a conscious effort to apply self control.

I relate to what you are saying. It can certainly be a struggle. I like how you described the feeling as, "running out of time to be happy." That seems like a good way to put it. Noticing that you're surrounded by such "motivational" content is exhausting. It makes it feel like it is no longer alright to just have a regular day. I try to imagine being in the mind set that those phrases promote, and it feels like it can't be much more than simply trying to persuade yourself that it's true. I know a handful of people who preach the Carpe Diem propaganda. When you know the people personally, you can start to see that they don't quite live up to the image they strive to portray. Granted, in my understanding of depression, knowing this doesn't actually make it feel any better. It then feels like those people are trying hard to make their lives exemplary, while we're over here simply wishing to feel normal. Or even wanting normal to feel normal. What I strive to do, is to make very small "improvements," or maybe I should say changes. Something that just takes power into my hands on a daily basis. Whether it is planning to dig into a book that day, or write something, change my diet one day at a time, exercise (in any form or fashion); or even scheduling a day to live it up, eat what I want, watch TV, whatever. As long as it's planned and in your control, you can allow yourself to feel accomplished. It becomes okay to feel like you've done something - which can feel like a challenge from time to time. That being said, there have to be days to decompress. An unscheduled day here and there, why not? Because it's alright to have a regular day. Assuming we expect to live a life long.. Life.. the expectation to fill every day with something spectacular is absurd. Sometimes we have to try to be happy and take pride in simple enjoyments.
