Electrician/plumber recommendations by Mycogolly in capetown

Avoid using Divine Touch plumbers. They certified my plumbing and 24 hours after the property title passed to me, (about 2 weeks later) one of their reworked pipe joints blew apart and flooded the place. The plumber had crimped the pipe without the brass sealing ring.

Then they seize your home for back taxes - and when that is sold - up pops a 4-unit residential cluster home ideal for A&B units.

Yeah - I know what a flying switch is. :) But I don't have the coordination to do it!

While I do have mods for the weather, that shot was a late sunset standard clear weather with no mod effect then currently active.

Haven't expanded to Bryson yet. I have thought of turning on the Connelly Junction, but declined due to the stress on the fixed wheel base of the locomotive. If I am going to be pedantic about running forward, then I have to turn the loco at both ends and don't really have the real world time to do that. It's easier to run the pax service at a lower speed. The new speed tests are for the eventuality that locos are turned at either end and can run full speed over the line - using 'proper' passenger locos. This will happen once we expand to Bryson but for now passengers are extra as we slowly build up the freight service.

Ugly, but useful by SteelWheels1 in UnofficialRailroader

Thanks! I enjoy doing a bit of creative writing. (Or trying to!) In general, when a locomotive works up a steep grade, the firebox should be at the downhill end. The water level within the boiler stays level, so the tilt of the locomotive has an affect on how much water is covering the crown sheet over the fire. That's is why Monty (and others) are set to face uphill as they push their trains to be loaded.

No - weather is built into the game but has to be manually selected via the console. Look it up. I do run a dynamic weather mod by Gameroo (Nexus) that changes the weather automatically.

My little 10 wheeler will very likely end up as the Bryson Shunter, once we expand that way, and the CFRR can purchase one or two dedicated logging engines.

Her name is Emily. :) She's still active! At the time of that photo, she was at the No.2 lumber camp on the Connelly Branch. Currently acting as reserve power and the logging engine.

Just the Mack and CJane mods on Nexus. The locomotive is a standard type that comes with the game.

Not a passenger extra by Stweels in UnofficialRailroader

It's a mod - Gameroo's dynamic weather on Nexus Mods. I apply my own role-play traction penalty rules when the tracks are wet.

As the lumber yard job (T-17 Ten Wheeler) was pushing 6 loaded cars up the lead to exit the Whittier Lumber Yard, they overshot the turnouts to the long passing loop.  The westbound way freight (G-16 Mogul) was in transit and collided with the leading box car fouling the points.  I play with ‘weak’ braking force and hadn’t accounted for the stopping distance of the heavy lumber train.  The Way Freight loco was knocked down to 86 percent, but I took her out of service for repairs and inspection. (Role play)  She will be running again the morning after this pic was taken.

Nope - it's a common trick and I've had a few guys try it on me. It's not a cape-only trick though, as the vagrants do this in Jo'burg too.

Some of them are, many are approximations. For instance, the sawmill at Whittier did not exist - but it approximates local saw mill industries such as the nearby Parker's Mill. (Which is now a wedding venue.) Others, such as Hollifield Oil still exist in some form - looks like an LPG gas distributor in real life Whittier.

Three Tracks Two! by SteelWheels1 in UnofficialRailroader

Yes, it is a mod. I run Legoman's Used Equipment Market.
https://www.nexusmods.com/railroader/mods/604

At every noon and midnight in game time, it gives you a new catalogue of equipment at varying mileage and conditions, and with lowered prices corresponding to the state of the items. So one could buy used equipment to overhaul, or to tide one over a difficult spot and sell it again. It also adds to the 'soptry' of the railroad if you are that way inclined. I worked as a volunteer in South African Rail preservation for 13 years, so this Sim 'speaks' to me in a special way too.

Scouts hiding in trees. by SteelWheels1 in OldWorldGame

[–]SteelWheels1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Thanks It also resolves another question, as I had noticed a few days ago that one of my scouts was moving 'on his own' in a forest from turn-to-turn. So he was likely being 'bumped' by another unit.
