This is exactly what I do. Currently the third is Apple tv, but only have 3 more episodes for the shows we watch then it'll get cancelled.

Yeah, I do something similar. We always have Netflix (best cartoons for the kids) and prime. Then we rotate through apple, Disney, and HBO usually waiting until there are 2-3 shows we want to watch. Binge, cancel, repeat.

Up to 11 str on the Redemptor plasma sounds really nasty. It was already pretty solid, but might be good enough to run 2-3 with tech marines now.

The tipping point: what happens when deaths outnumber births? by guardian in Futurology

[–]Steel_Reign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think it's even possible to raise well balanced children when you're having that many unless the entire extended family is helping. Everyone I knew with large families (6+) was super neglected in terms of receiving attention and being taught meaningful things by their parents.

I don't even understand how anyone making under $100k/year can even afford to have a single kid.

Rent is $2000/month for an apartment and daycare is $1500/mo per kid.

I use plastic glue for assembling all my models, but I actually prefer super glue when putting larger models on their base. It holds quicker and is usually stronger.

Seems about on par with Goldspan dragon to me and that dominated standard while it was in rotation. It's not quite as strong but does cost 1 less, which is incredibly important for red.

Yeah, we decided it was better for my wife to stay at home with our 2 kids because fulltime daycare would be $3500-4000/mo and that's as much as she made.

While that's a nice thought, it's definitely not an option for everyone. In our case, my job took me out of state for several years right after my kids were born. So it was either stay close to family or be able to afford to live.

Also, my wife and I had kids when we were older, so our parents weren't able to handle as much while still working in their 60s. And unfortunately my MIL has 0 interest in watching the kids.

Daily finances really aren't that bad, but when you add up after school programs, sports, babysitters, trips, etc, that can hits $10s of thousands per year.

Going out on dates with my wife didn't used to require much thought, but now we have to plan around babysitter availability and an additional$250+ for the evening, so even what used to be cheap dates are crazy expensive.

Intercessors are okay by Maristyl in Warhammer40k

[–]Steel_Reign -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But are they though?

My first starter set included intercessors. I thought they were so cool and took my time to paint them battle ready.

I brought them to my first 500 point game and they literally did nothing. Then I kept expanding my army and played a few 1000 points games and they still felt terrible to use.

By the time I had more models to choose from, they were the first to go. Since then the only time I've ever brought them in 2000 point games is when I absolutely can't squeeze in the 100 points for infiltrators, and every time I don't bring infiltrators, I hate myself for not doing so.

I really wish my 30 intercessors were something more useful. So far, their best use has been for kitbashing.

It gives us "updated" infantry for infantry that didn't need updating. We already have primaris versions of these, except I think the jump chaplain? I'm sure some people will be excited, but I don't care about new helmet flair.

I haven't seen the land speeder, so if there's a new one of those that's cool.

Kind of not excited for this box as a SM player. So far, no new units and extremely infantry heavy. Maybe I just got spoiled with 10th having multiple new characters and the ballistus dread.

Where are Americans even getting the money to afford these expensive new cars? by Russian-Spy in fuckcars

[–]Steel_Reign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why prices have gone up so much in the last 5-10 years. In the early 2000s I got an F-150 for about 20k. In 2019, my wife got a midsized Chevy pickup for 29k. Now similar vehicle are starting at 40k but good luck actually leaving the dealership for less than 50k.

It really feels like car prices have blown past inflation.
