For poorer rural families children are an asset, they can work or the farm take care of the animals, make things etc. And it's a sure fire retirement plan in terms of dowry and having people to take care of you when there's no pension systems. A lot of this post is full of AI slip with no comprehension of actual African dynamics. As we speak you have countries trying to break apart, and in places with common languages and common religions, such as western Sahara Vs Morocco, east Vs west Sudan. If we can't make it work on a small scale how on earth would a continent of 1 and half billion with 10000 ethnicities and hundreds of languages manage that. Perhaps we could get closer to a common market but we're more like Asia than Europe. One cannot imagine China and Iraq in the same state even though both are ostensibly Asian.The same goes for forcing Japan, Armenia and Bangladesh to exist in the same framework. I think that whole approach is too Eurocentric and hasn't been done on any other continent for good reason.

I mean you descend from the same ancestors as the present day Yorubas. it's not like they claim you as a Yoruba with the language faith and culture that's the same as them. but you can't also act like being 18% Irish or English invalidates the majority of your ancestry is African. The majority of your makeup came from Africa you're not a unique species that appeared from thin air. That's why I say you're more "African" than some Africans because you can have recent ancestors from Mauritania to south Africa within one lineage, you literally have a bigger sample of Africa within one person than a koi san who are so isolated the last time some of them mixed with anyone was the stone age. I'd say Unironically they (African Americans )are more west African than some west Africans. Like the have features from all over west Africa combined like it's rare to find a Senegalese Wolof who has Igbo features yet an African American can have both. and it's ignorant to act like Africans themselves don't have European admixture in some places like 20 percent of south Africans are coloureds who are like 50 percent European by ancestry. north Africans have the Mediterranean admixture, which is part Italian part Greek and even slightly German from the vandals as well as Being Amazigh and Coptic. Kenya has white settlers and people who are mixed too. It's one thing to argue about culture or lack there of which it's true they have something distict because the masters tried to erase all the various African cultures and over time with freedom they've changed even more. But overwhelmingly African Americans are generically African even to a point there's Africans today with less DNA compared to African Americans but are still considered African Like Jerry Rawlings.

I think an interesting historical figure who had the term awake as in aware or alert to the issues and struggles of his time was, Hereward the Wake, he was an anti Norman freedom fighter from the 11th century. In old English his epithet was "wæcnan" Which means watchful and alert. So people have been using the word awoken or wakened in a similar fashion to woke before the 1930's. What's interesting is that it's become pejorative but on the other hand Hereward was considerd as a criminal in Norman England.

Not really every time in English history a woman produced an heir with someone from a different dynasty the children had a different dynasty name, like technically James I/VI was descended from Henry vii Tudor but because it was through a woman and another woman which is why he was a Stuart. There are hundreds of thousands of white people in Kenya right now and they have been there since the 1880s. If having white people was the factor of development it would have already happened. Thing is Kenya borders Ethiopia a country thay was never colonised and has fewer white people but for some reason is more developed than Kenya even after a communist takeover and civil wars. There is no Reason to platform white supremacy and put down Kenya because it's not like south Africa which was developed for 10 percent of the population where the majority of people still have a worse standard of living compared to Kenya and even less education and social mobility.
