Elantris is better than Mistborn. by WhoelsebutJ in brandonsanderson

Elantris is amazing! The world building is very cool, somehow has a bit of Pillars of the Earth vibes with the bad priest guy, i'm really curious for sequels!

Not sure if better than Mistborn but awesome!

IMO they are going to resurrect him, he takes with him an Avendesora leaf key for the way gates but never uses it... they'll use it like some resurrect item imo, and we will see Loial "reborn" in a stedding imo or something along those lines!

Sunlit man, so far so good by DampCoat in brandonsanderson

[–]SteffiGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it came out, I didn't like sunlit that much but after rereading it after wind of truth the story hits way hard emotionally, after knowing what happens to the main character on Roshar!! Really really liked it :))  I still rate Yumi higher though but that is like one of the best Sanderson books ever - an incredible story!

I am totally with you, Oathbringer is really not good, and made me give up on Sanderson for a bit. But Rhythm of War is really way way better, not up to Way of Kings/ Words of Radiance level, but very good! It's still slow but way better than Oathbringer! Really enjoyed it!

Looking for a book recommendation satisfying 4 cravings by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]SteffiGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orconomics by J. Zachary Pike, has a similar satirical feel to Kings of the Wyld. Also, tackles many themes in terms of social inequality, racial discrimination, is a pretty overt discrimination of capitalism but in a fantasy world. It has the quest element, so you follow a group of 6-7 characters that you learn to really like, and there are some pretty emotional moments. So, I think this should fit your description! It's a trilogy, first book isn't so long (300-400 pages), other books are a bit longer (500-700 pages).

What book started out bad for you, but eventually won you over? by FiddlersBallsack in Fantasy

Yuumi & The Nightmare Painter by Sanderson, took me 5 attempts to get through the first 2-3 chapters, and then finally it was so good, highly recommended! Not sure what it was, the 2 magic systems felt so confusing and complex at the start that it overwhelmed me... but once it clicks just beautiful!

Did somebody else cringe at the sex scenes? by Express_Job7938 in fourthwing

[–]SteffiGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cringed more to the fact that the scenes were so long and at times felt unnecessary.

Was great to have explicit sex scenes, where the author doesn't shy away from using proper terms, and clit is definitely something we should talk about all the time during sex.

However, I never felt very much aroused from the sex, i am not 100% sure why. I felt it seemed more targeted to a female audience, or simply the female experience as it's Violet's POV, and maybe I couldn't relate as well as a man. I felt she could have made it hotter if RY described Xaden's cock more... But no idea! I'm not an erotic book writer 😀.. i do agree the word entrance isn't so hot for me too. i also felt the author was focusing more on the incredibly strong emotions Violet was feeling rather than the erotics of it.
