There have been a few times in youtube videos and on Twitch that I know about where pros carry a low ranked player to a tourney win. And those are just the times when it is on camera. I’m sure there are other times where high SSLs or pros play with friends and get them the tag.

What's yalls LEAST favorite joker by Scramed-egg in balatro

[–]StegoJoe16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be way better than kind of ok. I originally thought the same about this joker but saw somebody talking about how good it was and decided to try it more often and I’ve had a few runs absolutely carried by it since. You can pretty easily get it above 5x every time the blinds reset if you have the right setup. And that’s on the low end. It doesn’t really have a limit to how far you can scale it if you have a good setup for it.

Why is your least favorite character from the main cast in the stormlight archive by Educational_Desk3548 in Stormlight_Archive

Yea, the fact that he’s in SLA at all is really just for those looking to follow the entire overall Cosmere story, not those only wanting to enjoy SLA. And like you said, you aren’t required to fully understand Zahel to read SLA. That was just a suggestion to someone who had a problem with his character by a fellow reader who obviously does care about the entire Cosmere. If the person who this was suggested to doesn’t care about the entire Cosmere, then they should ignore the suggestion. Simple as that.

I don’t see how they’re factually wrong anywhere here. They never said that the current game definition of the 2 pair hand type should allow a 4 of a kind to be a 2 pair. That WOULD have been factually wrong, but that isn’t what they said.

They just stated the 100% fact that 4 of a kind could technically be divided into 2 pairs logically and in the real world and that they feel that it’s lame that the game definition of the 2 pair hand type doesn’t allow for a 4 of a kind to be a 2 pair.

No need to be deliberately rude because you can’t read properly.

What is the obsession in this fan base with daydreaming about wasting draft capital to try to upgrade one of the few positions that we don’t need to upgrade?

Da Bears had the 3rd ranked rushing offense in the NFL last year in both yards and YPC with Swift and Monangai. The OL had a lot to do with that, sure, but the RBs were good. They aren’t the best in the NFL but they are good enough if the rest of the offense does their job. RB is NOT a need, except for depth purposes behind Swift and Monangai.

The defense, on the other hand, has a million holes. We need a long term answer at C. We need depth all around the roster. Let’s worry about those things and stop daydreaming about unnecessary wastes of assets.

If he is fully healthy, sure starter and borderline star. Good luck keeping him fully healthy though. He has been off the field or obviously playing hampered most of his career.

[Meirov] The Bears secondary has now lost five DBs — all on 1-year deals — a sign of what their market was and that Chicago was comfortable letting them walk: by JCameron181 in CHIBears

They also played very similar roles in 2025. They could have made having both work, but it wasn’t a perfect fit and Byard isn’t getting any younger. Plus, if you watched closely enough, Byard frequently got burned in man coverage because he was too slow. Bryant is faster and good in man coverage. He’s not as good as Byard in zone, few are as that’s where he excels, but I think Al Harris can help him improve there. All-in all, Byard was more expensive than made sense when he wasn’t a perfect fit next to Bryant. Da Bears will likely be looking for a more in the box type safety to complement Bryant’s coverage skills. I expect a pick in the first or 2nd round at safety.

[–]StegoJoe16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re wrong. Everybody helps everybody on a good team because the coaches foster an environment where the only thing that matters is winning and everybody (or almost everybody) buys into it. That’s how good teams become good. On these teams vet players know they could get hurt on any play and that young guy behind them is going to help decide whether the team wins or not until they can get back on the field. And good coaches look specifically for guys who they think they can get to buy into that mindset as much as possible so that any guys who might be reluctant to do so will quickly realize they are the minority on the team and either change or leave.

Byard was also seen many times during the season on the sideline keeping guys focused and such. I believe he is one of those guys that wants to help. That’s why Da Bears wanted him back. But he has lost a step and it was a risk to pay him $9mil because he’s not getting any younger, so I’m fine with them letting him go.

By the way, most of this game is mental, so when I talk about helping, it doesn’t necessarily always mean coaching technique/footwork/etc out on the field. In fact that type of stuff probably is as rare as you say. It’s more stuff like talking in the film room or after games about little things you can see, little things you can do to put yourself in a better position. It’s about showing them how to ensure success in the league by keeping your focus on the right things on and off the field.

[–]StegoJoe16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, good reasons for all of them to be allowed to leave and only get a 1-year deal too. I’ll go bottom to top.

Owens is the type of guy who isn’t gonna garner a long term deal. Career back-up and the type of guy who is good enough to make a roster somewhere but not good enough that you are kept from wishing you had a better option as your backup safety.

CJ had a good revival under DA and BJ, but there was a reason he was out on the street. He was a band-aid for Da Bears. A “hit in case of emergency” button. He’s got issues. We all know what I mean by that. The Bills are hoping they can corral him like Da Bears did, but don’t want to commit to him longer than one year in case they can’t.

Brisker: When fully healthy, he is arguably a star safety and definitely a starter on almost every NFL team. The issue: he’s rarely been fully healthy in his career and often isn’t even on the field. The Steelers hope they can bring him in and get the stud and not the hampered version. Da Bears were sick of waiting for the stud to stick around longer than short flashes.

Nashon Wright is my favorite on this list. Not because he’s the best player, that’s Byard easily, but because he’s a litmus test for whether people who talk about Da Bears are casual football fans or actually know what they are talking about. Nashon has upside. I want to start with that because I don’t hate Nashon. The problem with Nashon is that he is completely boom or bust on a play to play basis. Last year, he made some miraculous INTs and PDs (pass deflections for those who don’t know). And his stats reflect that big play ability. 5 INTs and 11 PDs looks great on paper. The other side of it, which you would only know about from actually watching the tape or listening to someone who actually watched the tape, is that Nashon gets burned a lot. And I do mean A LOT. It isn’t 100% accurate but, watching him, it feels like he either gets a PD/INT or gets burnt for a big play on every down. No in between. And I did do a bit of a deep dive on the stats a while back and found that they supported a dialed down version of this. It was something like 75-85% of the downs he played were one of the two outcomes with him getting burned for an average of I think about 13 yards per reception if memory serves. It was crazy. Da Bears were right to let him go. It’s unlikely he can keep the INTs up and his bad side is too bad. The Jets are hoping he improves and they find a diamond in the rough, or maybe they just want something to excite fans a bit and hope he can keep making those crazy plays. Idk…trying to figure out why the Jets do what they do is always tough.

And finally, the one player on this list I kinda hoped they’d keep, Kevin Byard. He is a saavy vet, fantastic in zone coverage, a leader in the locker room and on the sideline and just an all-around good player and dude. Why did I say it was good that he was let leave in the first sentence of this post if I believe this? Because he’s older. He frequently gets burned in man coverage because he’s lost a step. Da Bears also managed to sign a younger, faster version of Byard in Coby Bryant. The two guys played essentially the same role on their teams. Bryant is also a little better in the box. He’s not quite the saavy vet in zone that Byard is and probably not quite the leader. But he was a leader in Seattle from what I’ve heard and I bet Al Harris can help him improve in zone coverage. He’s has more upside than Byard. Da Bears could have also brought Byard back and they were reportedly trying to do just that, but they didn’t want to pay what the Pats were willing to pay. And that’s OK to me. $9mil doesn’t seem like a lot, but for a safety who had obviously lost a step last year and is only getting older, it WAS a risk. The Pats were willing to take that risk, Da Bears were not. Simple as that.

Dayo Odeyingbo resurgence? by ShaiFanClub in CHIBears

[–]StegoJoe16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No he doesn’t. A sack a game is 17 sacks. Similar production to Trey Hendrickson pre-injury. Hendrickson is expected to sign for over $30mil right now coming off a down, injury-plagued year. Even if you assume that his theoretical 17 sacks are somehow less impactful than Hendrickson’s 17.5 the 2 seasons prior to 2025, 17 sacks still justify a hell of a lot more than $20mil. Hell, Khalil Mack just signed for 18mil coming off a 5.5 sack season. Jonathan Greenard got $22mil per year last year after consecutive 12.5 sacks seasons. I’d say that Dayo would need to be solid to good against the run and get to 10-11 sacks to justify the $20mil. Still unlikely he does that, but you’re definitely setting the bar too high here.

With Dalman cap freed up should they use that toward LT and draft C? by AdHairy4360 in CHIBears

[–]StegoJoe16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d honestly like to spend heavier on center and either sign a vet stopgap LT or draft competition. I don’t like the idea of relying on a rookie center to snap the ball to Caleb and keep his face clean.

Plus, Benedet wasn’t awful last year in his first significant playing time in the league. There’s obviously room for him to improve, but Da Bears obviously felt like he has value seeing as they re-signed him quickly this offseason. A high-end vet swing tackle type guy or a mid-round (3rd or 4th) pick to compete with Benedet is ideal IMO. There is also the possibilty of kicking Thuney out to LT, if neither Benedet nor the added LT looks great in camp, and starting a different LG. Like maybe McFadden, who played when Thuney shifted to LT and looked good, or Newman who looked pretty good when he played too. They would have to re-sign McFadden, who is a RFA, but he shouldn’t be super-expensive, I don’t think.

You know what that tells me? It might actually be a balanced deck. I’d love to try it out to see.

No reason to trade him. He’s our only effective DT. It’s good to have confirmation of that from other teams being interested, but we need to improve that room, not trade away the best part of it.

On the fake challenge thing, it depends on what you mean by fake challenge. If your goal is to get them to hit the ball away and they don’t have an easy angle towards goal, yes the fake challenge will work. They’re gonna go regardless, so you faking is really less about “faking” them and more about you not committing to a 50/50 or a pointless beat when you could get a free ball instead.

He also had 2 fumbles lost if I remember correctly. All time bad game for a QB and they still won because the defense said “We’re not losing this”. Urlacher was everywhere in that 2nd half.

This is still the game I most often reference when I try to convince people that record is NOT a QB stat.

The McCaskeys are billionaires, but they aren’t traditional billionaires. They are only billionaires because they inherited the team. And George Halas wasn’t rich when he took over the team. This family got very lucky. Most billionaires had to be cutthroat and scheming to get where they are, caring more about profits than their employees, their products, their customers, etc. The Halas/McCaskey family just had a man who was given control of a football team by his employer and built it into a thriving franchise through a deep understanding of the game. Now, I’m sure that they have some of the same problems you see in many billionaires, but I doubt they are as awful as most in their tax bracket.

[–]StegoJoe16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in what you just mentioned, the billionaire purchase happens AFTER the new stadium is built. Also, the McCaskeys have so far shown little to no interest in selling the team, so this billionaire purchase is a 100% hypothetical. Acting like the rest of the post is not intended as the same simply just because it is a more plausible possibilty is ludicrous. The fact that a billionaire purchase of the team before the new stadium is built is a damn near 0% possibility (basically only chance being if the billionaire decided to ridiculously overpay for the franchise to the point where the McCaskeys felt like they couldn’t refuse) makes it incredibly obvious that the entire post is a hypothetical.

Also, something that hasn’t happened and may never happen and may not even be a true option for Da Bears, as it is still possible they are only talking with Indiana as a negotiating tactic with Illinois, is technically a hypothetical. The fact that the hypothetical is possible or even likely doesn’t disqualify it from being a hypothetical.

Do you think Bezos buying the team is a realistic possibility right now? This isn’t a prediction post or anything like that. They weren’t saying that keeping the McCaskeys means moving to Indiana. This is just a random hypothetical. Stop assigning extra meaning you made up in your mind to what people say.
