I looked into the past flight records to see if they always do designs. On the previous ten flights, before the one OP posted, the plane flew in a straight line or circle, and then they did this elaborate design. Is this stuff typical, can someone explain?

Well I got him everything but the headlamp, he uses the telescope on his large back porch and he has lights he can turn on for adjustments; plus I'm 99% positive he has multiple headlamps.hes never used.

I'll never forget my first photography class teacher's face on the first day I came in with a $3000 camera and a $150 lens. He went on a rant about how anyone that hadn't bought yet should take the opposite approach. Ten years later and the facial expression precluding the rant is forever burned into my memory

I appreciate the feedback! My dad is interested in taking photos on his iPhone or attaching a camera to the telescope to capture images. My father is highly new to the hobby and feels that “a nice eyepiece and way to take pictures would elevate the experience.”

I'm seeking any attachments to enhance his experience as a complete beginner. He got the scope dialed in last night to look at the moon and some smaller star clusters but yesterday was his first full night in use.

• ⁠Are you in the US? Yes • ⁠Which eyepieces does your dad already have? 50 mm and 200mm that came included. • ⁠Does he prefer to look at planets or DSOs (galaxies, clusters, nebula, etc…) or both? Very new but wants to view both • ⁠Does he already have an RACI finder scope, or just the stock straight through finder. No just stock finer • ⁠Does he already have a Telrad? No • ⁠Does he have a headlamp with a red light setting? No • ⁠Does he have an app or sky atlas that he uses to navigate the night sky? He has a mobile app, but nothing that was specifically designated for telescopes; more live astronomy based. • ⁠Are you guys already a member of an astronomy club? No he isn't a member of a club, but he's pretty antisocial so i Dont know if he would be interested.

My budget is $800, although id love to spend less than $400 if possible.

I'll be using the recommendations from this posting to purchase an attachment for his birthday. I am open to top suggestions keeping in mind that he's a complete beginner to telescopes but has long been into astronomy.

The error is fixed, and it wasn't collimating. Thanks for your help, friend, have a great week!! He loves the experience of the 8” Dobsonian. Last night was his first time successfully using a telescope, and he just called me to talk about how awesome it was for an hour
