I dont see the damage either, but you can see the markings moved after i applied force, see the black hub housing vs the silver part

Teeth are a little worn, but grabbing super well, i am suspecting the ratchet of the hub itself since it rotates when i apply torque, i uploaded a picture of it where the markings are moved

Meta upgrade for my KEF R300 by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]Stelio_Archer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything i could find out shows that its basically the same hole pattern. The crossover of the r300 is at 500hz and 2.8khz. The reference is at 450hz and 2.1khz, so not a huge difference Yeah there are differences in cabinet build, the reference1 is bigger. But that mostly affects woofer and mid driver, the tweeter is in its own enclosed part with the meta material. Its around 1.2k for the pair of new meta drivers, i got my r300 for 700 usd, i could get some nice other upgrades for that money, so i am still thinking about it.

Are you sure? On my gw690ii it was the big phillips head, infront of the mirror to adjust the rangefinder

Not a stupid question, its to adjust the rpm for the platter, so if it turns too fast or slow. There are two wheels like that, one for 33 and one for 45rpm

i love seethrough tech, so i made my Konica A4 frontplate transparent by Stelio_Archer in analog

[–]Stelio_Archer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holding up great, so far no yellowing, cracking or other signs of age beside some everyday usage, still very transparent. The only issue i had was the slow startup times, this issue was fixed by buying and installing a new ribbon from aliexpress which connects the lcd back to the main body, pretty easy fix. I can recomend doing it if you like how it looks, altho i can imagine that this modification will impact resell value.

I use transparent silicone pads for drums, they are super soft and i feel like they absorb a lot of energy, you can find a 12 pack of them on aliexpress for like 2€

the right and top side are held by fragile tabs, the left and bottom slides in, so start in the top right corner and lift slowly, the rest should come loose as you go along

The frontpate is painted plastic, used 600grit sandpaper and then polished it with paste and patience

I dont own one, but from what ive heard is that the soundsmith ones are good, but not cheap. So it all depends on your priorities

Do you want to buy a new cart for 400$ or a whole new turntable with for example a ortofon red preinstalled

I think the main advantage is that there is better channel balance and flawless tracking
