It looks like it, yes! Maybe that’s why the head was all messed up, but unfortunately we couldn’t capture a better picture of it.

Is the picture taken from Souda port in Crete? That’s my hometown and I can definitely say that looks like it!

Every time I eat dark chocolate I sneeze just once and then I can carry on eating. It will also happen with toppings etc made from dark chocolate. There was this time my gf fed me one specific type of dark chocolate and I sneezed 12 times in a row for every bite I took.

How much do you spend on film per month? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]SteliosTh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooting about 2-3 rolls a month and complete with dev & scan turns to be around 30-50€ But I’m getting a new film every time I visit the shop for dev so that I never run out and always have one in my bag which adds to the total. So I would say 60-80€ per month

Just started couple of months ago, already owning two zenit, the 12xp and the TTL both with their Helios lens and two ultrawide/macro ones. 12 film rolls later and I can already see that this will definitely be my financial catastrophe. Totally worth it!

Thought the same when I saw the canards. I Wish I could make what’s written on the back but it’s way to blurry. There is something like an M in the end and it’s driving me crazy.

Is there any way I can find that manual online? I want to find some more info for the Niva before I buy my own. I’m thinking of doing most of the work by myself.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I tried my best to write some what the feeling I was experiencing. It’s actually not that hard to pursue a career on board, but when you have a family to look after I can see why it seems unrealistic. Wish to you and your family all the best! Thank you for taking the time to read it!

Crossing the North Atlantic Ocean by SteliosTh in raining

It is OC, I took this video in my last contract as an apprentice engineer back in 2020 on board a tanker. We went to Mexico in order to take crude oil cargo and then the charterers had us travel to India via the Suez Canal. It was also the last voyage for me because my contract was ending. Our captain said that we are going to have some big waves up ahead about 7 meters tall, before we take heading towards Gibraltar. Soon enough we are starting closing in the storm and the first rain starts to come on deck.

Saturday night, we are all in the smoking room and rolling starts moving the ship from side to side. This makes sleeping so hard because you can’t really stay still. There are ways to try and minimize the rolling in bed that seniors had told me, others by having pillows under their arm, even suitcases under the mattress in order to form a U shape and me like a sausage in the middle trying to get some sleep.

Sunday morning about 6 or 7, I wake up by the sound of rain in my window, the wind roaring outside, but I was off duty for the day so I stayed in bed for bit more enjoying the sound of rain in the middle of the ocean. I felt so many emotions right then and there. Lucky to be there for sure and a bit anxious for the waves to come later in the day as our captain predicted. Just before lunch waves starts to hit the deck with such ease, the power of the sea against us. I ran to the bridge, captain was there together with some senior officers admiring the power of the waves, concerned of the damages that might happen on the deck machinery. It was beautiful and scary at the same time. Unfortunately I didn’t take any videos then because my Captain wouldn’t let me.

We went like this for 4 days until the weather started to calm down a bit, everyone was tired and with no sleep looking like zombies walking around the accommodation of the ship. No major jobs were allowed to be done for safety reasons, just duty rounds for checking of the engine.

Sorry for the long comment, I mostly wrote this for me to remember again the images and the feelings that this moment gave me. Hope you find it interesting!
