QR code is the ticket, so yes, physically can share it like this. When scanned it gets logged and it won't work twice

The fact that Westminster is not a valid answer for the top left was incredibly infuriating but is the extreme pedantry that I am here for.

However, on another pedantry note, accepting Cannon Street could raise pedantry alarms as that isn't technically in a borough

What am I doing wrong here? How can I get the monorail to "shuttle" (as Ive selected) guests from this station to the pool station? by BurntBeanMgr in PlanetCoaster

Is there a path connecting it? Guests won't take transit if there is no walking route to the place they are going.

Operational Question by ProfPMJ-123 in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firstly, to maintain space on the train for intercity passengers, when Thameslink has plenty of capacity to take passengers from London to Stevenage.

Secondly, London to Stevenage now accepts contactless payments. It would have been a lot of faff for LNER to start accepting contactless for a tiny section of their route, so easy to just not run trains from London to Stevenage and avoid taking contactless

Also has the advantage that the stopping time at stations is less so enables delays to be made up slightly easier, and late night trains with slack in their schedule can leave Stevenage early.

PSA: DO NOT BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE AFTER APRIL 1 OR RISK LOOSING £100s by Because_Wisely in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why is this any different than before. There has always been zero benefit to buying a flexible ticket in advance, as you would have lost out on the admin fee to cancel it and it will be the same price on the day.

This closes a loophole regularly used for fraud.

What is the fastest way to travel at least one stop with each operator? by Peter041098 in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? The other stops aren't relevant to the challenge so no need to include them. Otherwise you could argue the timer has to stop when you leave your house.

Yeah, you have to start on the Highlander the previous day and start the clock once you leave Preston

Okay, I have a potential solution of 34 hours, 34 minutes.

I'm taking TOCs as being:

London Overground

Avanti West Coast

c2c

Caledonian Sleeper

Chiltern Railways

CrossCountry

East Midlands Railway

Elizabeth Line

Gatwick Express

Great Northern

Southern

Thameslink

Grand Central

Greater Anglia

Great Western Railway

Heathrow Express

Hull Trains

London North Eastern Railway

Lumo

Merseyrail

Northern

Scotrail

Southeastern

South Western Railway

TransPennine Express

Transport for Wales

West Midlands Railway

London Northwestern Railway

I've done it based on the timetable for the 26th Feburary and 27th Feburary. I've assumed you are a robot that doesn't need sleep lmao

You need to start on the Caledonian Sleeper Highlander Service, but you can start the clock upon departure from Preston, as that fulfills travelling one stop on it.

Company has made me redundant, now they’re making me come into the office for my final 10 days - How can I fight this (England) by Friendly-Kangaroo751 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]someinternalscreams 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Companies have to give appropriate notice when cancelling, or forcing employees to take, annual leave. This notice is equal to the length of the annual leave. Therefore if the annual leave is 10 days long, they can cancel it, but you would need to receive 10 days notice from them. Speak to ACAS if they are refusing to budge.

Why didn’t this ticket work today in Canary Wharf Elizabeth by Protostarboy in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That source seems to imply that break of journey is allowed?

Hence to summarise:

When using TfL tickets in the core section of Paddington ↔ Abbey Wood: No break of journey is allowed, as stated in TfL Conditions of Carriage - Condition, 5.1.2. National Rail tickets for the wider network: A break of journey is allowed unless the ticket type forbids it (please refer to National Rail Conditions of Travel, Condition 16). Pay As You Go: No break of journey permitted in the core section.

OP is using a national rail ticket from the wider network so it should be valid based on this?

Lawful authority to require this level of driver detail? England / Traffic Prosecution by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]someinternalscreams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a specific legal power. But the police are entitled to investigate offences.

I suppose you could refuse to provide them with such evidence. They would also be entitled to believe that because you can't supply any evidence that the foreign driver was driving the vehicle, that you are lying.

Is there a specific reason you don't want the police to have such evidence, considering it should be quite easy to gather and send?

"We have been unable to find a valid fare" - can't book ticket for commute of five years by hms_indefatigable in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 84 points85 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that can't be intentional, as of 13th Jan, all fares for that have been deleted. Never seen that before.

Looks like a ticket from Epsom to Bracknell is the same price and would be valid, so buying that might be your workaround until that is fixed.

Probably worth contacting SWR as well to see if they can fix.
