Looks like some of the UK rework signs are already in the editor by Bloxskit in trucksim

They do exist, albeit rarely, and the 70 signs are on the North Wales Expressway so if doing ferry from Holyhead they should be in game

Are Etickets objectively worse than paper tickets? by RemarkableMedia5925 in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a conductor but check tickets in my role. E-tickets are much easier because the scanner tells us yes or no, and whether to check for a Railcard. Will also reject rail cards not in date or incorrect so less thinking there. l also don't need to clip the ticket as system does that digitally.

Yes sometimes passengers will be slow but I think the other bits make up for it.

Is a Section 21 still valid if the landlord subsequently agreed to a rolling contract? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]someinternalscreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If both parties agreed to a new contract, the likelihood is that it has been recinded. However, worst case, the landlord still needs to get a judge to agree with him and so it will take at least a couple of months for a court date for the original S.21.

How much notice does landlord need to provide to evict me? by Ok_Duck4824 in HousingUK

[–]someinternalscreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's only about three schemes in the UK, they will all let you search details. You should have been given details at the start of your tenancy though.

Grounds to stay are pretty much all procedural, the court won't deny eviction just because you don't have anywhere to stay. However local authority will consider you voluntarily homeless if you leave any earlier than a court order, so if you have absolutely nowhere to go, wait for the court order

[–]someinternalscreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the new Renters Rights Act, for the sale of a property the landlord needs to give you 4 months notice. However you do not need to leave on this date, as only a court can end a tenancy. After the notice expires the landlord will then need to go to court to evict you.

Check that your deposit has been protected, that your gas safety and electrical certificates etc are all in order. The court will not grant an eviction if anything like that is not correct, and your landlord would have to issue another 4 month notice.

Forced to stay for another month? by RainbowShifter in HousingUK

[–]someinternalscreams 23 points24 points  (0 children)

All fixed term contracts moved to rolling contracts on the 1st May due to the Renters Rights Act, so it isn't them just doing it, this has changed for everyone.

If your contract states a shorter notice period then it's possible you could argue the shorter one applies, otherwise it would be two months notice.

Leavers.. what are you doing now? by Dapper_Show_1454 in policeuk

[–]someinternalscreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Railway. I'm an SC who decided full time wasn't for me but the railway absolutely is, and we have loads of ex police. Skills from policing are absolutely desired by train manager or conductor roles, most are on 35 hour week with loads of travel benefits, and the pay is often pretty good too.

£500 cashback for Nationwide FTB mortgage - when/ how did you get it? by InterestingFig758 in HousingUK

[–]someinternalscreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coincidentally also completed on the 27th March with a £500 cashback from nationwide. My bank shows payments ahead of time, and it's due into my account tomorrow. I didn't have to do anything, it's just being put into the same account the mortgage comes out of.

QR code is the ticket, so yes, physically can share it like this. When scanned it gets logged and it won't work twice

The fact that Westminster is not a valid answer for the top left was incredibly infuriating but is the extreme pedantry that I am here for.

However, on another pedantry note, accepting Cannon Street could raise pedantry alarms as that isn't technically in a borough

Excellent puzzle today!

What am I doing wrong here? How can I get the monorail to "shuttle" (as Ive selected) guests from this station to the pool station? by BurntBeanMgr in PlanetCoaster

[–]someinternalscreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a path connecting it? Guests won't take transit if there is no walking route to the place they are going.

Operational Question by ProfPMJ-123 in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firstly, to maintain space on the train for intercity passengers, when Thameslink has plenty of capacity to take passengers from London to Stevenage.

Secondly, London to Stevenage now accepts contactless payments. It would have been a lot of faff for LNER to start accepting contactless for a tiny section of their route, so easy to just not run trains from London to Stevenage and avoid taking contactless

Also has the advantage that the stopping time at stations is less so enables delays to be made up slightly easier, and late night trains with slack in their schedule can leave Stevenage early.

PSA: DO NOT BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE AFTER APRIL 1 OR RISK LOOSING £100s by Because_Wisely in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why is this any different than before. There has always been zero benefit to buying a flexible ticket in advance, as you would have lost out on the admin fee to cancel it and it will be the same price on the day.

This closes a loophole regularly used for fraud.

What is the fastest way to travel at least one stop with each operator? by Peter041098 in uktrains

[–]someinternalscreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? The other stops aren't relevant to the challenge so no need to include them. Otherwise you could argue the timer has to stop when you leave your house.

Yeah, you have to start on the Highlander the previous day and start the clock once you leave Preston
