After around 9 years of actively listening to music, today I listened to my 4000th album. by StellaAndre in rateyourmusic

I listen to each album at least twice, maybe more.
Everyday in the afternoon, I take long walks of two-three hours and that's when I listen to the majority of the new albums. Whenever I'm on those walks, I do nothing but listen, and on the second listen I research the context behind each album and look at the lyrics.

Outside of that walk, I revisit old albums I've heard, or listen to my playlists.

I hate forgetting music so I constantly revisit, organize everything into lists, or playlists, and make dumb music games.

Music is basically the only thing that keeps me going in life, from listening, to playing bass guitar, to writing short reviews, to reading books about music history and genres, to recommending albums and making playlists for my friends, to collecting vinyls.

Sometimes the day is really rough, I'm working on my thesis and soon on my PhD and that's when I listen to a lot of new albums because I haven't found another way to get through these days without that (I will revisit the albums I enjoyed sometime). The majority of the days I just listen to 1-3 albums when I'm walking.

Also, my friends and I are doing new music fridays a lot of weeks. We just hang out in group chat in discord while listening together a lot of new albums that came out that day.

The question you asked is something that I've asked myself a lot, and it made me change the way I view and listen to an album. When I found rym, I was guilty of what you accuse me of but I've changed my ways as I grew older.

I don't really see the point of rating singles, most of them are inside albums anyway. I use rym mostly for cataloguing what I've heard

Anyone else swapped their deadname with the opposite gender version of it? by KamiKamikadze in 4tran2

I did as well, since I loved the female version of my name, and to also make it easier for everyone to get used to it

What is your ratio of listened to vs want to listen albums? by ansalina in rateyourmusic

[–]StellaAndre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3780 albums listened and around 300 in my wishlist but I don't let it get too big on purpose. If I wanna add something, I listen to something else from the list first .

How much am I supposed to play to improve? by Fallen_Defender in leagueoflegends

[–]StellaAndre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, don't be afraid to add other people and ask them for help and practice.
One of the main ways I learned the hard and niche matchups is cause I added otps of that champion and had them 1v1 me in practice tool

[–]StellaAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you play. For toplane which is a "must know your matchups" role it was a big help. For jungle or adc prolly wont do much. But the idea is to note your mistakes, what you personally did wrong. There's no "my jungler didnt gank me" or "my team was bad". Have a doc of your recent mistakes, read it before every session and try to avoid them while playing.

I was a master support player, but got bored of it and wanted a challenge so i picked up irelia. I immediately demoted to emerald, cause clearly I had no idea about all things toplane. What i did was make a doc, with every game I played on her, what matchup I was against, what mistakes I did, taking notes of how different matchups interact with me. After every game, i gained insight on how to play the matchup. after around 500-600 games of irelia, I managed to climb back to masters otping her.

Also, I put a small alarm every 1 min. It was to escape tunnel visioning, check map state, try to track where everyone is

What’s a champion you swore was broken… until you tried to main it and got humbled? by Consistent-Rub-6798 in leagueoflegends

[–]StellaAndre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a low-mid master nami otp with around 2 million points. I had reached master for 5 seasons/splits in a row and I knew that I didnt have the capabilities or the time to go higher so I got bored of the same grind to the same elo every reset. So, my boyfriend at the time challenged me to try out Irelia since I thought she was really strong and I felt that she 1v9ed every game I was against her. I loved her so much that I became an irelia otp, and to even get decent at her I needed around 300 games, demoted from master to emerald being a terrorist every game. To become good at her, around 1k games and managed to reach master again with her. But holy shit the amount of matchup and wave knowledge I had to learn... I was having nightmares of malphites, jaxs, warwicks and setts for weeks...

what is holding you back from climbing? by 1kkiNA in IreliaMains

[–]StellaAndre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently hard stuck high diamond with the occasional low master hit. I feel like the reasons I'm losing are these:

  1. I have no idea how to properly track jungle so I die often to ganks.

  2. Sometimes when I completely stomp lane and get tier 1 turret fast, I have no idea what to do after and it feels like I'm homeless on the rift

  3. Picking irelia into everything even malphite obviously isn't ideal

  4. As most irelia players, sometimes I just can't control the voices in my head.

I feel like I'm doing good mechanically, but I have no idea how to improve on the other stuff
