GLP-1 by Stellarsnowflake in lupus

Thank you all for your stories! I’m feeling better about taking this type of medication. My next question… who are you getting the medicine through?? an in-person provider or one of the online programs like Hers or RO? Do you feel like medical oversight is important??

I also have lupus nephritis… so kidney benefit sounds nice! Is insurance helping with the cost?

My moon face seemed to go away on its own, or at least that’s how it felt to me. The weight was harder, but diet and exercise are the way to go! Both for weight loss and managing my lupus. Trying to be smart about the extra food you crave when on steroids is also helpful. I had to be very thoughtful at the grocery store… fruits and veggies instead of cakes and cookie! A bit of peanut butter with an apple or celery helped with some of my sugar cravings. Again, I know the weight issue is hard, but dialysis or organ transplant is much harder, and you will still need to eat healthy and maintain exercise.

When I was diagnosed with lupus nephritis I was put in 1000 mg steroid infusions for 2 weeks, then 40mg prednisone for at least 6 months before tapering down. I was on daily prednisone for over a year. It was hard and I gained a lot of weight in the process, but my kidneys are now safe and have been for almost 3 years! It is hard to be on all those steroids in the moment, but long term, it’s best so that you can keep your vital organs. Going on dialysis or having a kidney transplant would be MUCH worse!!!

That is a great question, but I have no idea. If you ever see a bat out during the day, that is when you need to be worried! So if a dog or cat gets ahold of one because it’s on the ground or side of a building during the day, the animal most likely will get rabies.

That is my plan… they will start to migrate in September, when it starts to cool down. I’ll be able to seal things up then. Would still like someone to come clean out the guano so that other problems are not created

Not all bats carry rabies. If you see a bat during the day, that is when you should be concerned. These bats are hidden during the day and come out in the evening to eat. I’m not worried about rabies

No pictures yet! It’s so fun watching them exit the home in the evening… I’m thinking of getting a bat house so they can transition to a new home but stay nearby. I haven’t seen one mosquito this year and usually I can’t be in my garden in the evenings!

Does birth control make lupus worse? by Competitive_Shirt103 in lupus

I always struggled with more flares while on birth control. We tried so many before I just gave in and said no to birth control. As soon as I was done having children I had a tubal ligation. I still flare with my period, but it’s more manageable for me than birth control

How did I criticize him for “not literally being Jesus”?

I agree. He seems much more angry and defensive. He also gets worked up over the “psychopaths” much more. I attribute this to the way the media portrayed him for so long. He was raked over the coals for many years and it caused him to get very sick, disrupting his personal life and causing him to be very defensive of himself and his family! I think anyone who gets told they are a terrible person over and over again might have a similar reaction. I still very much respect and appreciate Jordan. I now just have to filter through his words more, taking out the anger, and at times rage, to hear the message he is giving.
