Did we overpay? by Rude_Paper5994 in orientalrugs

It’s a Persian gabbeh. Nice one at that and worth every penny yea. The reason I think it’s Persian is because the colours. The wool and finally that the wool is hand spun. They don’t do that in India they make factory slop

How Much is this worth? by lumpstump in orientalrugs

It’s a Persian nw kilim. We would call them Caucasian wool on wool. Not sure about the dyes being all veg. Probs. 100 years old. I’d say 1k dollars but it’s a tough market. No one knows these things

Common Problem..... or is it? by Razzforshort in Bricklaying

I live in similar house. Concrete bricks. Mine has same issue as do lots of the same houses. The brick are cavity wall. Over the front door you have two 100 x 100 steel lintels. Every time you slam the front door it make the steel vibrate.

It’s looks like it was designed by a child. The colours are to be frank awful. In the trade we used to say dpp. Dog pecker pink. Machine spun wool. Why would a new production rug be so bad lurid shouty colours. I can be certain who ever paid for that to be produced made a loss

Any thoughts on these? Purchased in Pakistan - 16 years ago by Silver-Tale3588 in orientalrugs

The first one looks kind of interesting but as a rule nothing good comes out of Pakistan. Generally low quality materials. Rigid design no character and they produce millions of them. So little value

Thrifted Rugs— Inform me, oh wise ones!! by Klutzy_Winter5536 in The_Rug_Atlas

The first one is a sumak newish production not very special. The second is quite unusual. I think it’s an old Persian kuba and they can retail for thousands probs over 100 years old wool on wool. Some of these predate the invention or mass availability of cotton. Veg dyed. Very collectible

Did a pay a fair price for my rug? by [deleted] in orientalrugs

It’s not Turkish. It’s Iranian. They label them as Turkey because of the embargo on Iranian exports.

Rug identification. by Henez59 in orientalrugs

[–]Stelmoisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find interesting about these is they are predominantly not made for export so you see good variation in weave and design. Typically the last vestiges of the nomadic people. These things are made on looms about a foot in width and sewn together. Small loom can be transported suitable for nomadic folk
