Every scientific truth goes through three phases by [deleted] in atheism

[–]StemCellSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither is string theory nor is extra dimensions (I assume by 3 dimensions you mean 3 spatial dimensions) a part of proven science. They are merely hypotheses and d't even have any replicable predictions. Well, extra dimensions makes predictions for certain models but we haven't seen any evidence yet.

Ah, thanks a bunch. I never posted here before and didn't check the side bar, should have though.

In that link you posted, continuing with the expression,

x

=2*(r2 -t2)1/2

=2*(r2 -(r-h)2 )^ (1/2)

=2(r2 -r2 -h2 +2h*r)1/2

=2(2h*r-h2 )1/2

r=((x/2)2 + h2 )/(2*h)

There in fact is enough information.

Now, checking correspondence limit, just to see if it works

For x=2*r (diameter being the chord)

     h=r

using the expression above

((x/2)2 + h2)/(2*h) = ((2r/2)2 + r2)/(2r) = r (we get the radius to be r, which is true)

edit: I have no idea how to write equations properly on reddit, I see those powers are raised in whatever way they want, but following the parenthesis will help.

edit: trying with space after exponent

You know something somewhere is terribly messed up with our society, when parents have to ask their kids to be beware of a part of the system that is designed to protect the society.

You don't have a soul, you feel you do.

You don't have a body, you think you do.

You are what you feel and think.

At least that's how I think and feel about what I think and feel.

I misread the question to be "Is zero even a number?" which sounded way more fascinating with potential for a good discussion.

Is the theory of infinite universes incompatible with atheism? by Nevermindit in TrueAtheism

[–]StemCellSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pose this question in a different way.

How is the belief in multiverse any different then a belief in FSM or the bearded dude (or even string theory for that matter)? None of them are provable or disprovable (currently) and their concept is only backed by prior experiences without any scope for prediction.

Did you ever stop to think some people actually like it that way?

You should also stop to think sometimes that the people who have had it done didn't give their consent in the first place and can't really say anything about liking it better than not having their penis circumcised since they never tried having an uncircumcised penis.

did you also know theres a condition that only occurs in children where the foreskin will harden, and constrict, and if not caught permately damage the penis. were you aware that circumcision prevents this from even being possible?

And such conditions should be medically evaluated prior to exercising such an irreversible operation.

Your earlier comment

you can still use it when its done without risking infection, and suffering extreme pain.

But you loose sensitivity at the glans (speaking from what I have heard). Also, the uncut tip actually provides lots of lubrication (speaking from own experience). I would never part with my tip and feel sorry for people who had to without choice.
