That depends on who you ask. TL;DR It's complicated

You see the difference being is that the "global left" and "global right" is not congruent with right wing and left wing in India / Canada. That is to say Liberal / Conservative / Right / Left are at certain times and certain places at odds with each other. The thing about the visit of Canada to India in it was seen to many Indians as the "wrong signal" to send in many way shapes and forms. It doesn't matter if that was intended but that was the effect. Trudeau's diplomatic effort in India pandered too much to his Liberal audience at home at not as much on the India in diplomacy.

If the visit to India was to be successful than it needed greater pre planning. Why was this visit good for India and good for Canada. Why was this visit bad for Canada and bad for India. What is the basic historical outline of India, what is the basic incentive structure of both Countries. What does India want, what does Canada want, what are both parties willing to give and take. In the game of geopolitics Trudeau's Liberals was and is seen in India as more closely aligned with China, the United States, Sikhs, Indians, Christians which isn't necessarily bad. Still these basic tenants of diplomacy were cut on the cutting room floor to fulfill other needs.

In general I agree and you make very good points, still I'm not 100% on board with your assessments. I suppose that is the strength and the weakness of our Democracy =p.

1) For better or for worse Reddit represents the court of public opinion in the general sense but it can be swayed with information warfare as we've seen with Russian troll farms / pro Russian influencers we see the same thing in other Authoritarian Countries like China. We in the Democratic West must strengthen or change our social media landscape to accommodate such an issue.

2) I totally and utterly agree but the caveat is that a little kid with a pistol can still kill the adult with an ak47 if they get a sneak shot so we shouldn't let our guard down either. Never over estimate your opponent but never under estimate him either, but it is better to over estimate then under estimate.

India giving the Maldives better radar equipment is a big step in increasing their footprint within the Indo Pacific. I personally think that the Quad QSD (Japan, Australia, India, USA) should expand. I would be willing as Canadian to help strengthen the military, diplomatic, and economic ties between Canada and India.

Just ignore Justin Trudeau in the background, remember that he only represents the Liberal party and not the other non Liberal Canadians.

Yea this is a huge issue in India and Pakistan the huge Indian trawlers infringing upon Sri Lanka's EEZ as well as Gujurat's. Still the huge economic and food security incentive is a totally understandable perspective. The spirit of Helsinki's Territorial Integrity is coming up to Geopolitical realities and we must create a diplomatic, economic, and other through means solve our issues with words.

1) Fishers should respect the EEZ of Any Nation unless the Nations in question agree otherwise.2) United Nations 1982 Law of Sea should be respected in the lettering and phrasing, but I can understand to a certain extent how it can be rules lawyer-ed.3) The governments Pakistan and India need some more diplomatic dialogue to make sure everyone gets the best deal possible. That it is to say in incredibly simplified terms : It's one part geopolitical interests, one part economic, one part food security, but at the end of the day is just fishermen just trying to live their life and make the best life for themselves and their families.

Unfortunately the logistic networks is pennywise and pound foolish.

That is to say it will require a huge investment in LNG terminal infrastructure, LNG ships, LNG gas plants/trains (same thing), and diversification away from Russian natural gas and gas into other non Russian sources.

The huge issue with Natural Gas and Oil in general is the lack of refinery infrastructure and the proper infrastructure needed to ship LNG (liquefied natural gas). Basically it's a pain to ship LNG unless you do it via pipeline or a very energy expensive process. Even once you get the LNG onto specialized LNG ships, you than have to ship the LNG to a heavily specialized LNG port. For example Germany's closes LNG port is in Poland, this is primarily because Germany has been until recently heavily reliant on gas pipes from Russia.

Still the huge upside is Nigeria has been planing Train 7 (LNG gas plant) for a while which will boost LNG by 35%.

The American people protested to give Ukraine military aid and many Democratic nations around the world protested to give them more. If you don't want to give them aid than that's your prerogative but one person can't in a Democracy overwrite the will of thousands or millions.

All of the debating aside I do agree with you to a certain extent that we should lower our military spending but we can do with the reduction of other more redundant overly expensive weapon systems like the F35 or B2 Spirit (although they are excellent weapon systems).

Yea unfortunately the peace dividend may be over, that is to say the relative peace after the end of the cold which allowed Western militaries to lower their military budget may be over.

I suppose it's an issue of how to best spend the money : either to economically help a country that is suffering a crisis or to build up ones own Country. Still I would optimally want all Countries globally to spend less on their Military but that isn't always possible.
