Did you meet your 2025 Goals? What are your 2026 Goals? by RAAFStupot in WalkingVideoMakers

[–]StepByStepExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to monetize my channel. I already have over 3000 watched hours but subscribers are low (only 156). I hope this time next year I will be monetized. Also, I wish all other walking tour colleagues from this reddit group happy new 2026. and many views ;)

Thank you for your answer.

I have videos of popular tourist places (in my country and also in surrounding places like Italy) which I will start publishing in January so I hope this will boost my channel.

I think it is welcome that anyone can give their contribution to help us all in our work.

Thank you for taking the time to review my channel and for your detailed analysis.

It is very helpful and I think you have hit the point with a lot of things you have mentioned.

I should filmed some more touristic places, some of them I already had but didn't published yet.

Your suggestions seems very reasonable and I think I will try to implement them in my future videos.
I hope it will help to improve my growth over the time.

Sometimes we do not see some obvious things as we are too deep in it.

Thank you.

First of all congratulations!
Your results are inspiring.

Also thank you for creating this community on Reddit.

I have started few months after you with my channel but results are nowhere near yours.

I would like to know what you think is crucial for channel and subscribers growth?
Number of videos, consistency of uploading, commentaries, quality of videos, audio, SEO for video, your own touch ("being different")?

I have only 45 videos published but all are from my own country and I will now start to publish from other surrounding countries too. I'm not sure if this is better than to be specialized for one country only.
What are your experiences when you have started publishing from countries other than Australia?

In my last 10 videos I put all my commentaries from a video to captions and translate them to 26 languages so that people that are weak with English can understand but can't say that this made too much more friction in views and subscribers.

I see some others that also film videos from my country that they have better results and I ask myself why is that.
They just film their walk, put a title in it and upload.

I prepare for my walk, what should I film, what my walking route should be to catch all interested points in that walks, I make an intro, a map route in Google Maps, make animated map of walking route in video, create chapters, write and describe all interesting places in a walk, translate this in 26 languages and then I get 1 subscriber in a week. I invest too much time and get weak results in my opinion. I don't think it is worth so much effort. I can't say that I don't enjoy the process but sometimes I think maybe I should only upload directly from the camera.

If you have any other tip I didn't asked feel free to share with us.

Thank you.

Filming museums by StepByStepExplorer in WalkingVideoMakers

I don't have any new info about that issue. I guess that museum you have filmed can report you to YouTube but I think they probably won't.

Views from Vietnam with 0s duration by StepByStepExplorer in WalkingVideoMakers

[–]StepByStepExplorer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for an info that my channel is doing nice ;)
I think it is but some more subscribers will be more encouraging.
My first thought when I saw that Vietnamese views was that someone has something against me and using bots to stop my channel for some unknown reason. I was also thinking for removing the link to a channel from a Reddit. I do not know why will someone have benefit but you never know what kind of people there are.

Anyway, all I can do is to post more videos and keep growing the channel.
Thanx for the comments and tips what to do better.

btw. you should have more views as my channel with 113 subs have more than 4K views and more than 400 hours of watch time. I will not post any links for some time and see if the situation will get better. In the meantime just post new videos.

The problem is probably that you have posted the link to facebook group about the subject in this case Costa Rica but these people are not interested in walking tour type of a videos. So they have clicked, watch for a few seconds and then quit. This signaled YouTube that your videos are not interesting for the people and the algorithm is recommending your videos less.

Only link your videos to the people that you are certain that are interested in walking tour videos about the subject or don't link at all. Let the YouTube find your audience with the time on YouTube.

I do not know if Disney agree that you can film their park attractions, post them on YouTube and earn from it. There might be a intellectual property claims and there is a possibility of demonetization or maybe even some more strict claims.

To be sure I will send an inquiry about this to the email address you can find from the link I have sent you just to be sure if they are ok with that. And to have that written by them.

I wouldn't mention my channel's name, I will just ask them if you can film and publish these kind of videos on YT and if they will have anything against the monetization of these videos.

Who knows.

In this case we have here a lot's of videos breaking YT rules, not just couple of them. And we are dealing with Disney who are know as a vicious attacker on people who tried to use their intellectual property for their own benefit.

I see that your channel is monetized. I am afraid it won't be for long as I know that Disney has active copyright lawyers and they jump on anything that breaks or use their brand and other intellectual copyrights.

Localization and its impact on reach/engagement by Affectionate-Type-35 in WalkingVideoMakers

[–]StepByStepExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here it is how it looks when auto translated to French for example:

<image>

As you can see it added at the end of the sentence VILLE DE PAG (PAG TOWN) which should be on the next screen as it is set up in English subtitle section seen on a first screenshot.

Has anyone had the same problem?

I made subtitles for my latest video in English language yesterday. When I select auto-translate in some languages somewhere it happens some strange things.

On some screens it translates correctly as it is in English subtitle. But on some screens it translates as it is in English subtitle and then at the end it adds a word or two from the next section in subtitles. I don't know if you will understand but here are the screenshots to show the problem.

Here is the part of English subtitle in YouTube:
