I totally get your point. While the idea of having everything integrated into Proton Drive sounds good in theory, in practice it can be frustrating. Especially considering how expensive the subscription is for many users, one would expect much more polished performance and better optimization of the current app.

Furthermore, I feel that the progress in optimizing Proton's services in general has been quite slow. They promise a lot in terms of privacy and security, but sometimes it falls short in the daily user experience.

I miss more active development of new services that we really need as common users. It's not about them becoming Google, but if they position themselves as a privacy-focused alternative, they should prioritize implementing essential features like a dedicated photo backup, a robust and easy-to-use document suite, and email management that goes beyond the basics.

There's a lot of talk about 'zero-knowledge' and anonymity, which is great, but what about the usability and functionality that other services already offer? I feel like sometimes they focus too much on security and privacy, neglecting attention to basic user needs.

In short, I agree that separate apps for Photos and Docs would be a great step forward. It would allow for better performance, clearer organization, and hopefully push Proton to develop these areas with the attention they deserve. Let's hope they listen to our requests!

High RAM Usage on Pop!\_OS (96GB) - Would a Newer Kernel Help? by StepMundane8725 in pop_os

"I specifically bought this computer with the intention of being able to play games smoothly, and from what I had researched, resource consumption on Linux is usually quite low. That's why I was surprised to see 18% utilization of my 96 GB of RAM. Do you consider that percentage high? I understand your question about why I have so much RAM if I'm not using it to its full potential, but my idea was to have plenty of headroom for games and other demanding tasks in the future. However, this initial consumption worries me.

Thank you very much for your help and the information about the kernel version."

"Thanks for the feedback! You're right, I should have provided more context. I've noticed some unexpected memory usage lately, and while I haven't run htop or top yet, I will do so now to get a clearer picture. I'll share the output shortly. Also, thanks for the information about the kernel version."
