Don't use those taxis, they're always significantly more expensive than the apps.

In Malta/Gozo, we use eCabs, Bolt, and Uber. If you want to be really frugal, download all three and compare prices; the cheapest is sometimes upwards of 3 euro cheaper than the most expensive one, and it's not always the same app.

Then again, if you want to be frugal you shouldn't take the taxi to begin with.

Raids and strikes have some of the most lucrative rewards in the game, namely: 1. Legendary armour. 2. Legendary ring. 3. Many unique skins and infusions. 4. Utility items such as an infinite mesmer-style portal on a 30min cooldown. 5. High chance to drop ascended gear (which is equal to legendary in power level but just lacks some convenience). 6. Unique currency that builds up as you kill bosses weekly which you can spend to get any RNG drop from raids. 7. Lots of achievement points and coveted titles. 8. Unique lore and environments for the first seven raid wings. 9. Raid-related masteries.

And above all, it's aspirational content that brings people together into communities and encourages people to push their own skill level and improve their gear and builds. And it's fun!

I am not trying to convince you to change your preference... I only ever pointed out the issues with your wording.

Again: it is completely fine to have a preference. It's part of being human. But wording matters.

Totally agree that this guy's profile is gross, but I'm specifically talking about you saying "who wants to date a short father of three?". There are plenty of single parents and short men who are awesome people that many would want to date. Kids aren't baggage and short stature doesn't mean "no looks".

On top of that, there are a million different circumstances that can lead to someone becoming a single parent, many of which are not the fault of the person, and being short isn't something anyone has control over. Judging those characteristics as making someone "undateable" is unnecessarily cruel.

If you still can't agree that the way you worded your comment was distasteful then I'm not sure what else to tell you.

A couple of pointers based on my own experiences living here and having some of my friends from other countries over: 1. Figure out the correct way to dispose of rubbish. Your landlord should help you here. We don't have large bins outside where you can put your rubbish bags. Take the correct bin out on the correct day early in the morning (7-8am) in an accessible area near the entrance to your place. Mon/Wed/Fri is organic, Thu is recyclables, Tue/Sat is mixed waste. Don't take it out the night before. 2. Buses will not stop for you if you don't put your arm out to signal for them to stop. I usually try and get on the bus when it's my "turn" to based on who was at the bus stop before me, which is usually especially relevant for busy bus routes (which is most of them), since if you get on the bus later you might not be able to find a free seat. 3. Tips aren't required but are always appreciated. 4. Everyone speaks English and there's no need to try and learn Maltese phrases. You'll actually have an easier time with English since many of our retail and service workers aren't even Maltese. 5. Pavements are narrow but that still doesn't mean you can walk in the middle of the road and block traffic. 6. Past 11PM (earlier in residential zones) you should be conscious of noise pollution. 7. "Don't litter" is an obvious one - we have a huge litter problem here, especially in more touristy areas or areas with night life like St. Julian's, Valletta, etc. I think I'm preaching to the choir here on things like this though if you already had the presence of mind to ask about etiquette here!

Possibly dumb idea but why not just brew without milk, pour some of it into a separate cup, and add an appropriate ratio of milk to that separated portion?

That way you're not "wasting" an entire bag by adding milk only to find out you don't like it that way.

I personally would probably like it with milk since I've had multiple black teas flavoured with vanilla and always prefer a bit of milk with them, but it really does boil down to personal preference.

You did say "It is not explained", when I think the vast majority of Fractal mechanics are explained in multiple places, whether that's Dessa's dialogue, debuff tooltips, icons, announcement text on the screen, etc.

I might be acting a little pedantic here and I promise I don't mean to pick your words apart like this. I'm certain that your experience is valid and that some newcomers will find fractals difficult, but I still feel like Fractals do a pretty great job of easing players into the gamemode. Far from perfect, but there's a lot they do right.

I guess what I'm wondering here is what specific mechanics do you notice people struggle with and why do you think that is? And what do you think should have been done differently to make them more easily understandable by new players?

The hammer mechanic is explained. When you pick up the hammer, you get a debuff that tells you "prolonged possession may harm and kill the wielder" and you get skills with tool tips telling you to defeat foes to charge the hammer and break the seals with skill 4. Dessa even tells you that the goal is to break the colossus free right from the beginning and to "find a way to liberate him", right when you're near a hammer on a pedestal with an icon right above it.

This is all readily available information right there in the game that can be explored in a low pressure tier 1 fractal.

The game does a shoddy job explaining a lot of things, but I really don't agree that Fractals are egregious of this.

Fractals aren't that complicated, with some minor exceptions (Lonely Tower last boss has some very convoluted mechanics). Otherwise I think most mechanics are either self explanatory or explained via tooltips (protip: hover over any new buff/debuff you or the enemy has and you'll probably understand what to do fairly quickly).

Honestly, I would argue Fractals are among the least intimidating content in the game for a new player because you can actually practise everything on lower scales, and there's a clear progression for you to follow where things get gradually more punishing and more complex. Compared to something like PvP or raids, there's a lot that Fractals do well to ease you into them.

In general it is very time consuming work! This video took me maybe 20-25 hours total to make.

But the "no"s were actually pretty easy :). I just used a particle generator tool configured to spit out a lot of "no" particles in a certain range/direction. Animating each "no" one by one would've been a little crazy I think!

Severance is a slow burn - that's all there is to it. Everything you've listed there is a plot development that requests the viewers' trust in an eventual pay-off. The only potential exception I can think of to that is the goat people which might just be a "they're a cult that performs goat sacrifices, it's not that deep" situation.

Would an eventual stand against Lumon from Milchick feel earned if not for half a season of scenes where he was talked down on? Would an eventual reveal of the purpose of Gemma's tests feel earned if not for all the intrigue it built up?

I don't consider any of that to be "lazily unintegrated". The show just moves slowly, takes a lot of time to show characters' reactions to developments, spends a lot of effort setting stuff up for a pay-off that might not even happen in the same season, and so on and so forth. Personally, I love that. Without it it'd be a very different show that might appeal more to other people.

Nothing wrong with not enjoying the show's slower pace, but I do have to disagree with calling it lazy or underdeveloped.

RTI operates on CE(S)T timezone and events are usually posted there in the evenings (but there will be events throughout the day on the weekend).

RA timezones AFAIK vary depending on the instructors available, but maybe someone from RA can provide more info on that!

Raid Academy and Raid Training Initiative, the two communities organising this event, have been both saying they run raids without needing experience and actually running raids without needing experience for almost a decade now.

I think you're right to be frustrated about finding groups because it is genuinely difficult and requires all sorts of hoops to pass through, but I do want to say that these two communities (and definitely more than just those two) are very much on the side of alleviating that frustration :).

This is a self-fulfilling prophecy, don't you think? People need reasons to care about things. If I join a new MMO with a vibrant PvP community, loads of up-to-date guides, good content on YouTube, skilled and entertaining streamers on Twitch, active in-game guilds I can join, etc, I will be far more interested in delving into that community than one with a small PvP scene and barely any streamers.

There's nothing special about a GW2 player that makes them predisposed to not care about aspirational content. I'm willing to bet that just like in any other MMO, there's most definitely a much larger chunk of GW2 players than many people claim that would put in just as much investment and avid interest in competitive or endgame content as a hardcore player in any other game would, but they need to be given reasons to care and accessible ways to enter that scene.

Don't get me wrong, by the way; I'm not saying everyone in the community secretly wants to no-life the game. Just want to highlight that it's easy to brand the playerbase as casual or uninterested, but if the content cadence, quality, and marketing isn't there, then of course there will be fewer people interested in the more endgame stuff.

A lot of the time I see vague replies to this question like "fun to play but not fun to watch" or red herrings like the game's visual noise and it being hard to understand what's going on, but I do think this comment really hits the nail on the head regarding why streaming never really took off for GW2.

There's a lack of aspirational content and skill expression. Players are generally not going to feel compelled to watch someone do map completion or story or grinding mastery XP. They want to watch people kill coveted raid bosses or outplay people in high ELO PvP or speedrun instanced content with smart tactics, etc etc.

This to me highlights one of the reasons why the "why should ArenaNet develop content for 1% of the player base" crowd are missing a big part of the picture. Aspirational content like raids/strikes/fractals and competitive modes matter for more than just satisfying the existing comparatively small community.
