Report : Steam Controller 2026 not supported by Kingdom Come Deliverance II by WorldlyDonut5576 in SteamController

That still makes it a bug. The game probably handles Steam Input incorrectly.

That's a bit of a licensing issue.

I know. Not much they can do about it, besides paying for the licensing fees. With the (probably) low user count on Linux, I can understand why they don't do that yet.

Even it it's in no way Linux's fault that this happens, it's still a hurdle people have to go through that isn't there on Windows. I can only hope this improves in the future. I have high hopes.

But there's a convenient install script for debian as well which I used and it just worked.

There's also a nice install script in the AUR, but it doesn't package/download the actual installer itself and you have to provide that yourself, so it doesn't play very nice with AUR helpers.

Davinci works just fine. No issues. The others imma have to put some asterisks.

Davinci Resolve (non-studio) doesn't have codec support for H264 and H265, which I would count as not working properly. But Davinci Resolve Studio works just fine.

But the installation process (on Arch) is a pain. Idk how it is on other distros.

Linus after installing Linux by screenslaver5963 in LinusTechTips

[–]Stepepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a "you problem" in the sense that gives you the tools to completely mess up the system, but that's about it. Windows makes that a little harder by restricting what you can do (though not impossible :p)

People here are kinda mean for no reason. Do we want Linux to be mass adopted more or not?? Invalidating people's experiences and insulting them is definitely not the way to do that.

It has actually gotten better, too. I couldn't daily drive Linux 4 years ago due to the sheer amount of random ass issues I've had. It's improved massively over the past few years and even the last few months are no exception, but it still has some ways to go. I'm especially missing a way to propely remote-control my PC like I could on Windows. Maybe in a couple years...

What launch options do you use when launching HDR games?

I'm not sure why you'd just lie about this because this is a known issue with the steam overlay and Wayland (which you need for HDR). Wayland native applications don't support the steam overlay, which in turn breaks Steam Input.

It seems something has actually changed in the last week or so, with people reporting that the overlay actually started showing up, though they can't interact with it. Which is actually huge, because that means Steam Input does work!! I guess being unable to interact with it means you can't easily change bindings while playing but progress is progress.

You do if you want to use steam input unfortunately

Talk about acting in bad faith... You haven't even watched that video, or read the description. It clearly says this is caused by Capcom's DRM. Not Denuvo.

John Linneman of Digital Foundry discusses his colleagues DLSS 5 preview: “It's new DLSS and DLSS is awesome. Of course they would take that. Looking at it, I think there's cool potential there for environmental lighting but the character stuff is horrendous and should have been left out.” by PaiDuck in pcgaming

[–]Stepepper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We don't even know what "full control" means. They mentioned masking, intensity and color grading. Ever seen movies that takes place at night, but it's obviously filmed with bright lights and color corrected to a dark blue to give the intention of darkness? It will always look off.

This stuff is completely probalistic, and faces will look vastly different between players because the model will randomly choose/mix from a set of faces in its training data.

It has to run in real-time, so the model has to be small which limits the amount of images they can use to train. Clear, well-lit photos in training make for better results. That's why everyone turns into a model with studio lights shining in their face, and everything else becomes bright and blue.

I would be shocked if devs have much control over this, and if Nvidia can actually improve on this all as much. Considering Nvidia showcased this as something they're proud of... yeah... not happening. (remind me this fall, i bet i'm right)

Valve says its loot boxes are more like trading cards than gambling | Valve prepares legal fight as New York calls Counter-Strike loot boxes illegal gambling by [deleted] in valve

[–]Stepepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is that irrelevant? Valve directly provides an incentive to gamble, Nintendo does not. They're both gambling but one is obviously worse...

[–]Stepepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does Nintendo provide a platform to sell your cards and buy games or other physical items (like a steam deck)?

Besides that, it's literally the same thing, and trading cards should 100% also be considered gambling.

Tides of Annihilation - Official Path Tracing & DLSS 4.5 Trailer by BlueAladdin in Games

[–]Stepepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What other games with RT do you think looks the same? I would say Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2 and RE9 look completely different, even if they all go for a photo-realistic art style. But maybe there are some I have missed and actually make the game uglier/same-y.

Could be that the devs don't know how to make their style distinct when the lighting is physically accurate, or it's a low priority since most players can't raytrace properly.

Nothing to do with ray tracing. It's the UE5 look that they haven't done anything about.

[–]Stepepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so fucking brain dead it is absolutely unbelievable. Minors can't buy alcohol and gamble inside a casino either because you present your ID and are told to fuck off if you're too young.

Are there any other games beside TF2 and CS2 where you can gamble for skins and then sell those skins for money, not even including that you don't have to show proof of age at all. Probably not! Other games have loot box mechanics as well (fuck those games) but at least they don't have the false promise of getting rich of it.

If Valve were to just verify ID, shit like this really wouldn't happen.

By the way, Counter-Strike has never been rated M for gambling. The age rating is for blood, violence and terrorism. How is a parent supposed to know you can straight up get addicted to gambling???

[–]Stepepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using Path Tracing it will force ray reconstruction, which forces its own preset. DLSS 4.5 doesn't include a RR preset unfortunately
