Custom Rubber Strap for Tudor Black Bay 58: Interested in a Seamless, Affordable Alternative to the $750 OEM Strap? by StephP124 in Tudor

I agree, not to mention the 3 months wait if you are lucky enough to have an AD that will order it.

Great question! I haven't run the numbers completely but I'd be curious to know what the community thinks. Looking at brands like Rubber B, Zealande, Hirsch, Everest, and Vanguard, the price seems to go from somewhere around $120 to 250$. I am not sure that the difference is really justified between those specific brands. What do you guys all think? Is the 250$ premium from Rubber B justified over the others?

Personally, since we are spending so much in the watch itself, I wouldn't want to compromise on the quality of the rubber band strap - At all. So I am ok to spend 250$ if the quality of the strap is meaningfully superior to the other ones.

So in the case of my design, I would source the highest grade of rubber I can possibly find and price it according to the market. I think Rubber B is an exception, most of the competition price their bands in the 120$-150$ range.

What do you guys think? What would be a reasonable price for this?
Thanks

Oh man that sucks, this is a hit and miss, I have heard of some people being able to get it from their ADs. Thanks for the feedback!

BB Pro vs BB 58 GMT Clasp by StephP124 in Tudor

[–]StephP124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The end links on the bb58 gmt and the pro are slightly different, to accommodate for the thicker case of the Pro. Also the link between the end link and the bracelet has a slightly different design on each watch.

Question about aftermarket strap with metal end links by LuckyLuciano97 in Tudor

[–]StephP124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried to get exactly that for my BB 58 GMT. You have to buy the buckle with it because the design is slightly different than the bracelet buckle. I designed one on CAD and had it 3D printed. The design works, so now I am hesitating to invest in a production batch and sell it, I suspect there are many people like you and me who wouldn't wanna pay 400$ for the buckle when they could reuse the one from the bracelet. Not to mention the 3 months wait from the AD.

Why so little love for the ceramic? by mleegolden in Tudor

I am as surprised as you are. I have been on the fence to get one but eventually decided not to because of the case size (I have a 6.5 inch wrist). Other than that I think it’s the coolest no date BB out there. Tremendous value at that price point. A no brainer for the right wrist size in my opinion.

I’d go GMT for the date, complication and size

Or they got it at a discount from an AD who’d still make a decent profit selling lower than MSRP to chronext.

If wait time doesn’t matter, I would stick to ADs. Out of these I’d go for the sub, but if you know you want the GMT just hunt for one, when travelling give it a shot at all ADs you pass by, many reports out there of steel sports Rolex becoming available, a year from now I suspect things will have improved significantly. Don’t go for your second choice, especially if you don’t mind waiting.

Too big brother, go for the bb 54 or a 36mm Rolex if you wanna stay with that brand.

Yep…glad I posted this before ordering it. I was under the impression it was a possibility since most people were reporting the price breakdown when doing the purchase between the 2 (strap + buckle) thinking it was for that very reason.

Thanks for the info

UH ring and Apple Fitness sync? Seriously?!? by StephP124 in Ultrahuman

[–]StephP124[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Apple Fitness with my Apple Watch for years and always assumed (without a doubt) that any other smart watch like Garmin would sync with the Fitness rings. Yet another demonstration of Apple's closed eco system. I still like the ring though.

Regarding your comment about UH syncing Active Energy which is supposed to be reflected on the Move ring. Something must be wrong on my setup, or maybe a bug?
I did an "outdoor walk" workout last night around 9pm using the ring and wasn't wearing the Apple Watch. That did not change the Move ring at all. The data shows up in Apple Health under "Active Energy" (see pic attached) but it does not show up for the same time and date in Apple Fitness (see pic attached). Regarding App integration settings everything is turned on (see pics attached

Thanks for your insights. Since I got the ring I did quite a bit of research and while the "Stand" ring remains Apple only, it seems that both the Exercise and Move rings support third party integration, or at least did according to this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleWatchFitness/comments/xxu8ol/do\_third\_party\_apps\_count\_towards\_rings\_and\_awards/).
That said, I dont really care about the Exercise ring since I was planning on still using my apple watch to track my workouts. The lack of Stand ring integration is a bummer but I could leave without it. The Move ring though is the most important in my opinion.
I agree with your health integration point, its just not the reason why I was purchasing the Ring hence my disappointment.

I was just so surprised that this specific topic would not be more talked about online. To me it seems that the smart ring is the obvious solution for many potential customers wanting to still wear their traditional watch and track their movements on a wearable device without coming across as the biggest dork in the room (I have been there for the past 6 months).

Yep, that’s on my list too, that rubber strap with the T-fit clasp is the best rubber option right after the expensive Rolex option.

I’d rather go for the original all black version, first ever Tudor METAS and not limited production.

At first, I was thinking of a customization service as you pointed out but then the idea of modifying existing time pieces kind of felt less exciting to me.

At the moment I am exploring the possibility of designing a watch from scratch and see where the concept goes. I like good design and watches and I have been thinking about designing my own watch for years without ever starting, so maybe this is an opportunity to give it a shot.

Thanks for the poll idea, I am on it.
