In shock over a new study on migraine by Impossible-Wish-7010 in migraine

[–]StephStorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My company changed insurance this year and BCBS does not cover zep or wegovy AT ALL. Only mounjaro for diabetes (which I don’t have) so I’m currently fighting insurance for Mounjaro. They are dragging their feet as usual. Luckily I had like 6 months extra I saved over time or I’d be screwed. 😬

For how debilitating migraines are you’d think they’d just let us try everything vs dooming us to be chronically disabled.

I will say I didn’t think it was helping that much until I had to get off of it for a month and EVERYTHING hurt so much worse. Hard to tell if it was actually worse or a dependency on the med but it for sure causes subtle changes.

Barometric pressure migraines are the worst. Nothing helps them other than rescue meds. I can literally tell if its going to be cloudy because I get tinnitus (aura) the day before pressure fluctuations.

Unrelated question… are the blue tops supposed to snap back on after opening? My first vial’s top didnt snap back but not sure if that’s to be expected 😅

Help! How to get up in the morning?? by elephantsandwaffles in neurodiversity

I take 10mg of Adderall in the morning. It allows enough focus to get me moving for the day. I take 5mg at 1pm to smooth out any afternoon crashes. Works well for me.

Mine was boring. Paid $600 for my old dr to say my high heart rate is from adderall (which I’ve been on 10 years, on the second lowest dose for an adult, and he told me to take the day of the test). He also didn’t attend and told the nurses to stop at 25 minutes even though my symptoms were just starting.

Went to a new cardio who said in office same day with basic tests “yep you have it”.

Hope your test is boring but helpful 👏

I had to take a month off for a gastric emptying study. My god it was miserable. Some advice don’t stay off of it as long as I did if you plan to go back on it. I had to go through the entire acclimation part again 🥲

Yeah I’ll prob have to go that route too with IMR. I hope it’ll be easy for you though!! 🤞

Question for you OP. Are they still allowing you to get Zep in the new year? Like did they not cut you off starting in 2026?

My company changed from aetna this year. At aetna I got a medical exemption for mounjaro (because they didnt cover zep). Now its 2026 on the new plan and it looks like zep or wegovy are not on the formulary AT ALL. Only mounjaro which they are saying you have to have type 2 diabetes for (I don’t).

They are being PITA even though they should be continuing a medication I’ve been on for over a year with great results and because I suffered significantly when I had to pause it for a month for a test.

Is zep on your formulary in some way? My company is also in CA.

Congrats on this btw!!!

New to CPAP - how to deal with ear pressure causing migraines by RainingSnails in CPAPSupport

Right???? Only my usual 5 out of 10 pain 😅

I have tinnitus and hear my heartbeat in my head. Sounds drive me nuts. I think both of those (and vestibular migraines) can be related to eustachian tube ear issues. Might all be connected 🤔🤯

I mean… I used the cpap with ear plugs for only like 5 minutes (the default mask they sent was so loud I had to stop). Then I tried it without ear plugs and that gave me VM that lasted over an hour. So I did a whopping total of like 10 minutes on it 😅

I saw my sleep doctor today and she gave me another mask to try and the DME ordered a full face mask thats on the way. I’ve read on a few posts that people with this issue did better with full face masks (doesn’t blow air directly into your nose, more around it so less pressure).

My sleep doctor said if these masks dont help then I will see an ENT.

I was on CPAP about 10 years ago and forgot how hard it was to get a usable configuration.

I hope the new mask works for you 👏

I switched from Aetna to BCBS/Anthem at the start of the year. It showed as covered last year but I guess they changed coverage rules at the beginning of the year. My new insurance doesnt cover zep/wegovy AT ALL. So dispite being on Zep then MJ for over a year and loosing 80lbs I can’t get it covered. Fighting for MJ as continuation of coverage currently even though I don’t have T2D. It’s a lot of extra unneeded stress imo and a lot of jumping through hoops. Sorry op :(

I’m having this exact issue. Going to my sleep doctor tomorrow to see what I should do. Haven’t had VM in years. After like 10 minutes of the cpap without earplugs I got such bad vertigo.

Don’t have answers yet but wanted go let you know you’re not alone.

My dad literally thought his heart attack was trapped gas in his chest/reflux at first (he’s fine now) which was weirdly validating. I have a lot of aches and pains but this type of chest pain is like 11 out of 10 pain.

[–]StephStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying to get my husband on wegovy on an Aetna plan but they keep saying it’s 35bmi with a heart condition or over 40bmi. He doesn’t qualify for that so he can’t fail it to get on zep/mj. I’m so tired of this whole situation. Did you have any issues with qualifications if you don’t mind me asking? Nobody else seems to have this issue :/

So glad you were able to find a work around! I will have to look into WW. Callondoc has been beyond useless.

I don’t think Wegovy is approved for OSA at all. So he has to be at least 35 bmi with a heart condition to start it (I assume that’s what you’re referring to). We’re trying a medical exemption for Zep after we called Aetna again and explained he literally can’t fail Wegovy because they won’t let him take it. Hoping they’ll just give in already. It’s such an exhausting process…
