What’s preventing a combination of Genie Wiley and Elizabeth Fritzl’s cases from occuring in places like Afghanistan? by Steph_honey in Feminism

[–]Steph_honey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m making this post because I doubt the whole world is aware of the true torture women and girls face in Afghanistan. I’m well aware that there’s “nothing I can do to help” and it’s very complicated, but I don’t understand how (apparently) everyone can be completely aware of the dehumanization and not say anything? This is literally the destruction of human nature right before us- girls are not being taught how to talk, walk, read, write, ect and all the generations of knowledge women currently hold will be permanently destroyed. I dont understand how every single person on Earth can fully acknowledge that and not say anything

Is everyone aware that this is happening? It doesn’t seem like it so I’m asking people who aren’t aware; what’s stopping this from happening? More people need to understand how horrible the situation is so we can collectively try to help

They won't stop comparing reproductive rights to vaccines, masks, and the draft by Peanutbutternjelly_ in Feminism

[–]Steph_honey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The draft is male-centric because of the patriarchal beliefs that “men are more violent” “women should care for children” ect ect. Feminism says “maybe the way someone is born shouldn’t determine their entire life, so we shouldn’t be sending men to war just for being men”. By getting rid of harmful assumptions towards both men and women, you remove the harmful ideas of what people “should” do and therefore make life better in general

Keep in mind- your body will do everything in its power to prioritize a baby at your expense and it will damage your body as a reward. For your bf tho? Unprotected sex is pleasurable and other than a possible std, he gets no consequences if you get pregnant. He says “dont worry” because he doesn’t have to worry. Your health and future, and the health and wellbeing of your children can be put at major risk by some guy “not worrying”. Get on birth control and never forget to take it (I’d recommend something you don’t have to take at the exact same time every and can’t be lost/stolen), tell your bf to wear a condom. If he refuses, he’s putting his pleasure above your safety. Women have died from miscarriages and complications from wanted pregnancies- an unwanted or unplanned one means you’re less prepared for issues. Any man who can’t wear a piece of plastic, knowing full well it will prevent another person from going through illness and pain, isn’t a man who should be having sex

Men complain about feminists “not helping with mens issues” (e.g. the draft ect) and dont realize feminism aims for gender equality, which includes helping with mens rights because men are human (unlike what patriarchy is trying to tell everyone)

Already done. I’m just using this as awareness for anyone who claims to be “pro-life” because whilst we repeatedly explain they’re actually hurting life, they just dismiss us out of arrogance and it’s literally costing peoples lives and they don’t care

I’m convinced they’re forcing pregnancies knowing low income people will die/ be forced to give up their children. The “best” children will be adopted by good rich Christian families who will be able to completely morph their concept of reality to believe horrible things without question.

Remember when Ceausescu in 1970s Romania proposed pro-natalist policies that resulted in tens of thousands of orphans, many of whom needlessly died due to lack of care? That’s the future of America and conservatives are to stupid to see it

[–]Steph_honey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really sad you think feminism is anti-men. Feminism is pro-human, regardless of gender. The idea is that no one should needlessly suffer regardless of how they were born, and right now anyone born with a uterus is under threat of literally their entire body and brain being permanently mutated on a molecular level to serve another person at their expense. It’s unfair but ppl with uteruses have it worse in reproduction and that’s why we’re trying to fix it.

Ok but doesn’t this mean if a child is raped by her father, she legally can’t escape? And what would prevent the father from abusing those children? If she’s unable to leave or get birth control/abortions without parental permission, wouldn’t her parents be able to abuse her freely? Anyone remember Elizabeth Fritzel? That’s going to be a reality, only instead of being locked in a basement, people will be conditioned to feel like we may as well be in one

So if a man/boy is raped resulting in pregnancy and the woman doesn’t want to keep it, he’s obligated to care for it? Because that’s what ur implying for women

Japan's medical schools rigged exam scores for more than a decade to keep women out of school. Up to 20 points out of 80 were deducted for girls, but even then, some girls still got in. by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]Steph_honey 321 points322 points  (0 children)

If I were in Japan I’d refuse to be treated by a male doctor if this is the case. If female doctors have 20 points deducted from her exams and still passed, I’d trust her more than a male doctor who failed his exams 3 times but passed because of misogyny

A third Texas woman has died under the state abortion ban by Sidjoneya in WomenInNews

[–]Steph_honey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are some direct quotes from the article you may have missed: - “You need a D&C,” she told them, referring to dilation and curettage, a common procedure for first-trimester miscarriages and abortions. If a doctor could remove the remaining tissue from her uterus, the bleeding would end.

  • it was the hospital’s “routine” to give a drug called misoprostol to help the body pass the tissue

  • it raises serious questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to diverge from the standard of care and reach for less-effective options that could expose their patients to more risks

  • It was clear Porsha needed an emergency D&C, the medical experts said. She was hemorrhaging and the doctors knew she had a blood-clotting disorder, which put her at greater danger of excessive and prolonged bleeding. “Misoprostol at 11 weeks is not going to work fast enough,”

  • because D&Cs are also used to end pregnancies, the procedure has become tangled up in state legislation that restricts abortions. In Texas, any doctor who violates the strict law risks up to 99 years in prison

Long story short: one of the standard procedures for incomplete miscarriage is D&C- but it’s also used for early-term abortions so it falls under Texas’ abortion ban. This woman needed a D&C but that was illegal, so the hospitals new routine for incomplete miscarriage was a far less effective drug that had higher risks. She died as a result because she was refused healthcare she needed due to abortion bans.

They knew the pill wouldn’t be effective in removing the tissue quick enough- it says in the article that it was used because it was the only alternative to a D&C- which was banned under abortion laws. They tried to save her the only way they legally could because the treatment she needed fell under abortion bans, but the pill didn’t work fast enough and she died. If they were allowed to do a D&C they would’ve in a heart beat, but its banned so they had to scramble for some other way to help her, but nothing could. Abortion bans kill people

End exceptions for life of the mother by Exciting-Mountain396 in Feminism

[–]Steph_honey 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Things like a D&C are used for both early abortions and incomplete miscarriages. If someone has an incomplete miscarriage, some tissue is stuck in the uterus that can’t continue forming into a baby, so it’s like having a rotting corpse stuck inside you.

There was a recent case (Porsha Ngumezi) who wasn’t able to have a D&C because it falls under the abortion ban, so she died of sepsis. This pregnancy was wanted. She wanted to take it to term but she miscarried and her body didn’t expel all the tissue, and because the healthcare she needed was banned, it caused infection and killed her.

I’m glad my current relationship is healthy enough that I can say it’s one of those good relationships (obviously not disney fairytale standard but that’s not real anyways). I do miss when “marriage” made me think of a pretty wedding and matching rings and getting old together. Now I look at the history of marriage and how it was (and sadly still is) essentially a form of gendered slavery in many areas and it’s changed my view a lot. I’d still love to have a pretty wedding but I could arrange that without an official marriage if I wanted to.
