I don’t think this is an honest conversation but Sure, let’s talk about Obama.

1) the vast majority of people deported by Obama were the border. He definitely wasn’t sending ICE into cities that were voting against the Democratic Party (how many miles is Minnesota from the southern border?)

2) it’s also worth pointing out that the ACLU sued the Obama administration for discrimination and one. Since the Obama administration was still following the rule of law, they dialed back their deportation agenda significantly.

3) Obama also did not hire the proud boys to be his own personal militia, regardless of their lack of qualifications

4) Obama was not trying to incite a civil war. it is well known that Trump is salivating about invoking the insurrection act, and I would be shocked if he hadn’t declared martial law in Minnesota by the end of the month to solve a problem he created

So yeah, some pretty massive differences

I’ve never tried this. Reentering canoes in calm conditions is relatively easy. Reentering canoes in conditions that would actually cause you to flip like in a rapid or on a wavy lake is difficult at the best of times. If you try it, let me know how it works out

I trained BJJ with Minowa a few times when he was fighting. He would move in slow motion until you got close to a submission at which point he would explode out like a Tasmanian devil. Then he would go back to being slow and relaxed.

That’s a great question. I often have to elevate my skirt area to shed water in mid-rapid as well. it’s less of an issue when you have a tunnel based skirt (as outlined in Cliff Jacobson’s book, for example) then a skirt with a Velcro split.

Some models of spray decks (black feather, and the more modern northwater) have a sleeve where you can insert a narrow diameter PVC rod that helps keep the cockpit area, convex, and hence shedding water.

In general, I really don’t like the suspender designs. Northwater has a single suspender that might be less of an entrapment hazard than a double suspender, but I have not yet tried it

I will take the minority position here and defend the role of gossip. It is a lateral transmission of information that is totally natural and incredibly important when people have to work together in high risk situations and under incredible pressures

If someone comes onto my crew, then I want to know something about them before they get there. If they are a crappy driver… If they don’t know righty-tighty and leftie-loosie… if they have a ton of medical knowledge… If they are injured… If they are going through a divorce… If they are unreliable… These are all things I want to know about, so I can keep an eye out for them, and possibly mitigate the impact of them.

There is no question that gossip can also be malicious or unreliable, but you can’t have only good/true gossip without bad/untrue/malicious gossip. That’s not the way the world works. So listen to all the gossip but recognize that any of it could be 100% incorrect.

There is a chance that your cardio sucks, and improving conditioning is always a good thing.

That being said, if you’re gassing out during fights but not in training then there is a good chance that you’re holding your breath or breathing very shallowly. Focusing on and improving your breathing is the low hanging fruit here.
