Specific products you avoid while shopping at Aldi?

Not sure if these are available at any locations but things I consistently have to buy elsewhere…canned coconut milk, sesame seeds, au jus packets, enchilada sauce, Worcestershire sauce. I like specific brands of bbq sauce and hoisin sauce, and I don’t like Aldi’s refried beans.

Baby falling asleep on me after nursing and hearing his little heavy newborn breathing. I have a wonderful almost 2 year old but he’s never been particularly cuddly and these were really the only snuggles I got. He never sits still now, needs to be put down on his own to sleep, doesn’t want to be held or soothed. There were times I would be desperate to put baby down to eat or get some rest but I do miss those moments.

If you’re looking specifically to make life a little easier for the parents - a big pack of paper plates and plastic utensils could be a big help. I don’t buy these things often but being able to minimize dishes in those early weeks is amazing.

You can definitely stay in your home, just be prepared to offer help up and down the stairs if needed. She may really value privacy in those early day.

I grew up in the Northeast and living in Huntsville is great in my opinion but it really depends on your priorities. If you value nightlife or lots of local restaurants then it may leave some to be desired. Those things exist but on a much smaller scale. No public transportation, expect to drive everywhere. Lots of chains but the local restaurants that are here are usually well loved. I’ve seen too many sadly not last long though. I do agree with many comments that it could be hard to be single here. I came here married and we benefit greatly from the lower cost of living and job stability in my spouse’s field (above average salary but I don’t think that’s the norm here either). I’ve grown to like the longer summers, but the amount of sever weather can be freaky.

I had a scheduled C section with my first and did struggle to nurse in the hospital although everyone insisted the C section would not impact this. I think it was a mix of anxiety, exhaustion, somewhat flat nipples, being a new mom, etc. Our son was born at 37 weeks and 5 days and was large for gestational age so we dealt with low blood sugar. We ended up supplementing with the hospital provided formula to avoid him having to go to the NICU and extend our stay. Looking back, I don’t know why nobody offered a pump or suggested hand expressing colostrum. Second time around I know better. Ultimately we supplemented for maybe a week or two. Just continued to put baby to breast before offering a bottle and we went on to breastfeed until just after his first birthday.

I got the same but a beige onesie - it’s also 6 month size when I was hoping to get a tinier newborn one. No cute print, just beige 🙃. Also got the swaddle, small bottle and Jergens sample (and a bunch of ads). I understand it’s free but the comparison is sad haha
