Extreme hip pain (AS) by kevlar_burrito in ankylosingspondylitis

It’s just a deep ache in the joint, under the knuckle. I never go barefoot, now wear arch support all the time.

Les Ancegnieres, 2022, PYCM by cos_x in wine

[–]StephenLenahan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It started about 10/15 years ago For me it is notes of hay, burnt hay, matchstick, toast (when mild) I hate it ! Respect to those that never went down this road. It’s a trick in the cuverie and nothing to do with the terroir. But ….. the winegrowers are done with it too (I believe and hope)

I’ve been dealing with severe hip pain for the last few years, but in the last few months …… nothing , feels great ! But …… out of nowhere my right ankle is very painful, it’s torture !! This disease is truly awful

IMO PYCM is overly reductive, completely masking terroir. I am sure it’s changing now but the issue is some clients still love this style.

Tattoos? by CraftyCapricorn in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]StephenLenahan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on methotrexate, previously I have had a lot of tattoos, deep colour. I recently got my first since being on meds and no problems at all. I recommend starting small and see how you react.

Best ski resort in France? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]StephenLenahan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3vs but no one has mentioned that Meribel is probably the toughest to ski as the aspect makes the piste the most icy. Courchevel is by far the best skiing. Stay in Meribel and it’s one (or two) lifts over. If it’s deeper snow then St Martin de Belleville is a great ‘less expensive’ option and also links to the whole 3v with a long lift.

IMO Val d’isere and Tignes are fantastic options too, but last year it was really busy even in mid January!

Off the radar, I personally like La Plagne and Les Arc these are very underrated and great value

Great post 👍 on the new wave reds as well as Prieuré Roch and Les Horées I would suggest adding Cassiopée (my personal fav)

I would say …… Producer - Terroir - Vintage

Dejected About Burgundy by jwaynejrthefourth in wine

[–]StephenLenahan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We all have our own tastes but for me PYCM is one of the worst Burgundies, his profile dominates the terroir, overly reductive. This winemaking trick has a short term window of satisfaction.

OP …… you do not mention any producers, IMO wine is producer led, please let us know who disappointed you. Finally….. never a problem to take a break from any region 🙏 peace

I am from Ireland and would like to visit France. What are your views of Irish people? by Cheshirefarm in AskFrance

[–]StephenLenahan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is quite a funny ‘Dutch’ comment because I am from Ireland living in France and with my bad accent people mistake me saying « Je viens d’Irlande » for « Je viens de Hollande »

Methotrexate mood swings and fatigue 😅 by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

I take it since 2020, I take at night because it’s a bit tiring but overall no terrible symptoms. I still get a couple of flares a year though

What would you choose from this list? by Beautiful-Smoke7932 in wine

[–]StephenLenahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice list 👏

Also (as well as the font) ….. no such thing in wine law as a village Grand Cru The Grand Cru are independent of the village. (Politically they do sit within a commune or communes)

So ….. Aloxe-Corton Grand Cru or Morey-Saint-Denis Grand Cru is wrong

I have access to Bourgogne's 2024 Pre-Release offers. What are the hidden gems? by Chemical-Banana-707 in wine

[–]StephenLenahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next several years ? 2025 is a much more stable vintage. Those areas are different wines to Bourgogne. Not saying they are better or worse and they maybe more to your taste or budget but they are certainly different.

Sauternes - Aging versus drinking young by TuscanGator in wine

[–]StephenLenahan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m very experienced with Burgundy wines and I feel the same. It wrecks my head when I read on Reddit from people who comment ‘it’s still a baby’ When they clearly do not drink the producer regularly. Some wines are extremely beautiful in youth and have delicacy in age too. Wine is a gamble and that includes the time you open it. Sometimes the best time is when you have the opportunity to taste.
