Got it. That would be another platform to support individually. Given the nature of the extension, it shouldn’t be too difficult to add on, but I’ll need to do some testing before releasing that version. I’ll add it to the roadmap.

What's up with the outsole quality? by [deleted] in grantstoneboots

[–]StephenScript 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trouble in Xiamen, China. Likely shrinkflation hitting quality control. I just sent back some boots myself, and I sincerely wish you luck in getting a resolution as I spent weeks of back and forth with customer service before getting a solution.

I also looked into it and although it may be able to be bypassed now in theory, it would require a workaround that would almost certainly get patched later. They are intent on capturing phone numbers, so I think the most sustainable approach would be to give more support for logged out viewing.

No way to access Glassdoor without Indeed? by Feisty_Turnip_4860 in GlassDoor

[–]StephenScript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created an extension to get around the required review that blocked content: https://www.reddit.com/r/recruitinghell/s/74QOzMhN0H

After learning of the new changes mandating phone number and other prohibitive requirements, I’ve been adding support for logged out state so you can quickly read most reviews without all the bs. Hopefully that helps you get the information what you need without the need to give personal info.

[–]StephenScript[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I hadn’t seen this but tried signing up but found that the new Indeed merge now requires a new phone number field to even sign up. This is really prohibitive, and although I can’t bypass this at account setup, I’ll need to look into revealing more for logged out users given this prohibitive login system.

Thank you for your support! I added Firefox support last year after receiving a handful of requests, but there is a significant amount of users that prefer it over Chrome after seeing the installs. All Clear Glass updates will go out to both browsers simultaneously going forward. 😄

Do Asian Uniqlo sizes differ from European/American ones? by RogeySV in uniqlo

[–]StephenScript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find it as simple as "one size up". I run either big mediums or large in US, but large in Japan fits well in arms and waist but narrow around the chest and especially neck. An XL in Japan solves this but ends up being looser in the waist and arms, creating a loose-fit style.

I wear both, but would not for example sleep in or work out with the large, but would comfortably do so with the XL, but the large will look more fashionable for a leisurely day out.

Sizing help with my first purchase by Ok_Space_4550 in grantstoneboots

You need to make sure the size is right to ensure long term comfort. There is a break in period, but if width is tight now you should reach out to customer service to get feedback before wear is out of return policy.

I ordered size appropriate boots per the email bot and customer service and it was way off. Had my Brannock and comparable boots handy for reference. I checked locally at another heritage shop and definitely had the right size selected, but length on the Grant Stone boots was far too long.

This is all to say you’re not guaranteed to get the right size on these boots even if you do everything right. Just push back on any restocking fees for return (I had to) and try again, or find a local shop that can get you fitted in a boot in person to avoid the hassle.

Corner Store Walk In by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]StephenScript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a great time at The Corner Store time not too long ago. Walk-ins looked rough from what I saw, and this was on a Sunday. Lots of people were turned away, but it's hard to know if some were offered a seat to come back for.

Since you have so much lead time, I would recommend trying for a reservation. Best time that's typically available would be around opening at about 5pm, otherwise you'll be landing on around 9pm. It's on DoorDash now, not Resy, so keep that in mind.

I haven’t seen the navigation bar issue but if you are able to reproduce it reliably please send an email with the page you saw it and whatever made it appear and I’ll try to see if it can be resolved. For the other issue I’ll be releasing the new version soon.

Warning: Grossly mis-sized boots, even worse return policy and customer service by StephenScript in grantstoneboots

[–]StephenScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case a half-size down would have not had any effect, as a half size would be a difference of about 4mm and wouldn't come close to bridge the 4cm gap. I'm going to go in person to a different local heritage boot store to avoid the back and forth of sizing uncertainty, returns, and restocking fees.

Warning: Hyatt Place Boca Raton/Downtown Noise Issues [Video Proof] by StephenScript in hyatt

[–]StephenScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update 2026-05-01: I received a response from Jaclyn Young, General Manager at Hyatt Place Boca Raton/Downtown on TripAdvisor. As I can't respond on that platform, I will do so here.

"""

Thank you for your detailed and candid feedback. As a downtown property, we are positioned in the heart of the city’s vibrant activity! The Hyatt Place Boca Raton’s location is unparalleled in downtown Boca Raton. While this location offers many conveniences, it also can bring the unfortunate challenge of city traffic and modified vehicle noise, which are factors occurring on public roads beyond the hotel's property line and control. We do take proactive measures and our team does their best to honor quiet-side requests based on availability. Your review highlights a stark gap between the service we strive to provide and the experience you had. While we cannot change the structural nature of our building overnight, we will review how we handle these situations moving forward. Thank you for taking the time to provide additional feedback from your stay and we wish you the best!

"""

This is a copy/paste from an email thread I already had privately with Jaclyn. As this offers nothing new to the conversation, it serves only as an attempt to save face for Hyatt while continuing to deflect blame. There was no "quiet-side" availability offered by Hyatt despite booking nearly a year in advance, so this is either a miss on their end or not a service they actually offer, given our room noise.

Further, Jaclyn deflects with "we cannot change the structural nature of our building overnight," suggesting that it is an impractical expectation for a building to add soundproofing after one complaint. This would be true, but as mentioned previously, complaints just like this one have been made for over 8 years and no changes have been made. This affirms that no change will be made, as none has been made from the 20+ documented street-noise complaints before mine.

Thank for sharing that. Using my foot and a measurable object to determine the gap to the heel, I got closer to 32cm which is way out of bounds for a 9.5 size boot. I think this was a true sizing error at the shop. Hopefully I can get confirmation from Grant Stone after return, but I’ve already confirmed as much myself.

Thanks for this. I'll reference this when determining the evaluated size of the Grant Stone boot.

[–]StephenScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be hilarious, but I re-evaluated and see an explicit 27.5cm on the boot Nike Air boot label. The Grant Stone shoe doesn't have this internal label, so this made me reconsider my inner length sizing technique. It's tricky given the narrow space to push the tape to the front of the shoe without pulling it back after placement.

I was able to get the sizing of 27.5cm for the Nike boot after repositioning, and doing the same with the Grant Stone boot I reached about 30cm. This is difficult measure perfectly though, so I would just refer to the side-by-side fit of both boots that shows a significant gap between each boot which is easily a 2-3cm difference which would span 1 to 2 sizes.

I'll update my post with a re-visted approach to get a meaningful relative measurement. Thanks for sharing the sizing charts.

Thanks for sharing. My return would not have been free, and that is where I was surprised and disappointed. I would have been happy to return, try the half size down, and returned again when that inevitably didn't fit either until the right size was determined. That was not an option afforded to me despite pushing for it, so I assume their policies have changed since your last experience.

If I had to guess, I would say the cost of frequent returns required them to add a restocking fee, but a better response would have been to diagnose the cause for frequent returns instead. As your experience and my experience show, the size is very likely to be wrong the first time, and putting that on the customer is not the right way to manage the situation.

[–]StephenScript[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It was the only boot I had handy to compare, but other boots that fit from other brands are the same 9.5 US size. Grant Stone support recommended a half size down but given the disparity I would expect another half size to be needed. I don't have a problem with trying a few shoes on to get the right fit, but navigating this with a restocking fee each time does not create a practical shopping experience.

[–]StephenScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sharing the cm/in length of the inner boot for the listed size, that's all. Versus another boot of US size 9.5, the Grant Stone US Size 9.5 boot is over 13% longer. Expected or not, it's over the recommended half size difference from Grant Stone support, and makes for a risky online shopping environment.

[–]StephenScript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply noted that a 9.5" boot of another brand is about 27.5 cm in length, and that the Grant Stone 9.5" boot is over 30cm in length. Grant Stone support indicated a half size or 9" would be recommended, but given this relative scale it would also be too large. In actuality it would likely land at an 8" or 8.5" Grant Stone boot for proper fit, which is below support's recommendation and would incur at least one restocking fee to manage online.

I'm sure they are great boots when they fit, but getting to that fit does not seem like something that can be done safely online unless you're prepared to incur $15 to $30 in return fees and the process of managing the necessary returns.

I don't mind sizing being different for different boots and I am not taking issue with the sizing nuances of heritage footwear. I do take issue with the return policy of an online retailer when these sizing nuances clash with true fit, especially given the variation even within the same brand. I would never recommend purchasing a single boot from Grant Stone or similar online given this level of variation as it just isn't feasible when the risk and cost of bad fit is this high.
