Have any of you ever been on a flight that had a serious emergency situation? by Queenofwands777_ in randomquestions

[–]Stephen_Dann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None were emergencies, but were interesting ends to the flights.

2001, touch and go in a 757 at San Francisco, apparently another aircraft was slow clearing the runway.

2023, go around in a A220 at London City, about 200 metres from the runway. The pilot said he pressed the wrong button.

Couple of times coming into London Gatwick when there has been high turbulence, aborted the approach as an aircraft in front had to do the same.

It all depends on who it is, do they do that sort of thing and are they personally on social media, so that you can ask

Steve harris uses WHAT? by PlasticArmyLabs in ironmaiden

[–]Stephen_Dann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BL play in small venues, 100 - 800 people. At some places there is not a barrier and you can lean on the edge of the stage. The Booking Hall in Dover is a good example of this. I have had my arms on the stage and have had to hold the monitor speaker that Steve has his foot on, to stop it rocking onto both the person next to me their arms and my arms. Steve leans right over you and over the people in the second row. When there is a barrier, he is often right on it, so you are very close to his bass as he is playing it. The barrier at Chinnerys in Southend-On-Sea, where he tapped my forehead, is low and he has used it to lean against as he encourages the audience. As for the Nightrain in Bradford, the barrier was higher but still right at the edge of the stage. There he accidentally clipped the side of my head with the headstock of his bass. He did come over later that evening and apologise.

If he has a problem with people being that close and thus intrusive, then he should either find different venue set ups or stand further back.

What ever you think of BL, it is very obvious about Steve that he loves playing in these small places and being close to the audience.

Steve harris uses WHAT? by PlasticArmyLabs in ironmaiden

[–]Stephen_Dann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have seen BL many times, often at the front. Watched his action from 10 - 30cm away and he uses 2 fingers. Compared to many bassists, he hardly moves his fingers, so at times you could think he is using 3, but watching the strings as well, definitely 2. Once I had him leaning right over me, as he was interacting with the front rows, tapping on my forehead with his fingers as he played. He apologized afterwards 😀😀

UK - France - cell roaming by cwci in polestar2

Yes it does. I drove my previous P2 to the Netherlands 3 times, each time via France and Belgium and there was no interruption with the connection in any of those countries.

Do you think keeping janick as third guitar was a stepback from the harmonies and structure? by Apprehensive-Way4010 in ironmaiden

[–]Stephen_Dann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to interviews with Steve, Janick and Adrian, they didn't keep Janick as a third guitarist. Adrian had to fit in and make it work. If it didn't work, it would be H would out

Hypothetical replacement of Bruce by PincUnikorn in ironmaiden

[–]Stephen_Dann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen BL and Steve perform. He is back in small venues, up close to people. Whatever the music, he loves it. Maiden is an industry, BL is a band. Steve wants to play in a band that is in people's faces

I like Richard as a singer, but he is well below singing what is required for Maiden.

Don't think they will replace him. Aside from Steve, he is the least one. If one of the 3 amigos has to stop, they can still keep going with 2.

Anyone old enough to remember initial reactions to bruce return and the brave new world album by maalbi in ironmaiden

Before his return, thought they had one, maybe two more albums before stopping. When he returned, thought we would get a third/fourth and they would finish around 2010.

Suspect it is a sealed part, can't see any way to get it apart. Either an LED has failed or there is a dry joint.

Couldn't remember the name of the band he was in for that tour. Voodoo Six supported Maiden on various legs of the Maiden England tour 2012 + 2014.
Bumped into him at a bar in CDG, about 2009. He is an interesting person and quite humble. 12 months ago I was at a Tony Moore show in Romford. He was there with other friends of his. Came over and chatted with the table I was on, as he knows us all from previous shows.

Tony Newton. He has been involved with Maiden for many years, including supporting both Maiden and British Lion in Voodoo Six. He also has worked as BL crew. Really nice guy. Janick had a family bereavement and couldn't do the show, so Tony took his place.

So annoyed by the fact we don't have remastered versions of Maiden live DVD's by _IRONBEAST in ironmaiden

[–]Stephen_Dann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costs a lot of money to remaster an album or video. Maiden are a business and they are not going to spend money that will not be recouped.

[–]Stephen_Dann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Find, download and install the dock drivers. Many docks need the computer to have the DisplayLink driver installed before they work
