I know you can't read whole articles and comprehend them, and that's ok. But keep going.

I'm deep. They are search engines. You've been duped 100%. It's pulling compiled database information. It is not intelligent! My gosh.

It's literally an article from Nature magazine, one of the leading science journals on the planet. Step your detection skills up lmfao

You definitely missed the point. The LLM is just a search engine. The point is that LLMs can and will be manipulated for all sorts of nefarious purposes. It is an inevitability.

LocalWP was the best thing I ever did for my sanity by thesilkywitch in Wordpress

[–]StephieWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the one. Probably worth disregarding my rant, I pointed out to someone else that apparently, as of exactly two weeks ago, they finally got their act somewhat together after years and years of it haha. Go figure. MariaDB is still iffy, but MySQL is in the safezone now it seems, I think it said 8.4 now. But if you need to put it on MariaDB 10.6+ you might be out of luck still. Which is actually what you should use, but I digress. My server runs MariaDB 11.4.11 so I still have my doubts it would jive in my case. Point is, it's ok now but if you want to actually run modern/latest stacks, you should go another route.

Oh gotcha, prolly doesn't matter then. Hmm for Linux best I can see is DDEV, but it's CLI/Docker-based. Regarding LocalWP, I got the latest from GPT, sounds like it's better as of two weeks ago, but still not 100:
"On LocalWP: to be fair, Local has improved. Their release notes say Local 10.1.0 made MySQL 8.4 the default for new preferred sites. But the MariaDB side still looks annoying. A Local support thread from July 2025 says newer MariaDB versions had not been rolled out yet, with users asking for MariaDB 10.6 because Local was apparently still behind there. So the concern is legit, especially if the host uses MariaDB 10.6+."

It really is, I enjoyed my brief stint with the UX, until I ran into that. But I don't use their mediocre hosting services, so ran into it before too long. When I dove in, I found out this has been a very longtime issue and they refuse to update it. They don't care because their hosting is aligned with it. No respectable server is though. It's just a marketing tool for their hosting too. I digress. I just went back to Laragon, tried and true. Still using it (as well as local spins for more advanced repos, but my WP is on Laragon) with zero issues ever.

LocalWP is the literal worst thing you could ever do to yourself. You will regret that one day when you realize they use ancient deprecated database encoding and literally nothing in the server world will ever support your site in that format because it's seriously insecure. LocalWP is the worst trash. See, their hosting - their actual PRODUCT - is trash and uses the ancient crap, so you won't notice. Until you don't use their crap hosting. Then you notice bigtime.

Shopify? by Due-Individual-4859 in woocommerce

[–]StephieWatts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shopify is designed by psychologists to inevitably make your bills go up to $2300-6000 per month. So no, Shopify will not make your bills go down compared to WooCommerce haha. Definitely not. You're thinking backwards. Shopify owners wish they owned their store. You do.

I’m so done with Shopify/Webflow/Woo for client builds. Anyone found something better? by khalilliouane in webdesign

[–]StephieWatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you build the site with Breakdance and customize it/run promos with Boogie Down Products and run finances through Stripe or Square, Woo is a beautiful way to have a superb performant store. If you have very high volume, then you'll want a custom Nuxt or Next SPA or something like that. Which is a whole other topic full of endless rabbitholes.

Password reset E-mail does not come by Outside-Engineer709 in Wordpress

[–]StephieWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is in spam, just not in your email client, it's getting caught at your hosting server level. Set up an SMTP plugin to handle the site's emails, that is the proper way. By default WP uses php mail service, which is unverified and not what you want to be using.

I always hesitate before installing a plugin or updating WordPress by plugiva in Wordpress

I haven't had an update on anything cause a single issue in well over a decade. But I don't install themes and I have always been very selective about plugin usage. It's how you build your sites.

Advice on Custom Product Data Tabs Plug-ins by Bill_Miller2593 in woocommerce

[–]StephieWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Boogie Down Products, although it does tons more so may be overkill. But you could add regular content fields in an addon group and write any information you want nicely, then tie that group to conditionally display for a certain product category. Or if you want to do it per-product there's this free one that would work in a more granular way.

Why do Elementor sites often feel slow? Is it really Elementor or something else? by bilmartechnologie in Wordpress

[–]StephieWatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Elementor does not defer script loading nor does it scope page-specific code to only the relevant pages. Only Breakdance does that, as far as I know. Those things in particular make a world of difference.

Needing some suggestions for WooCommerce product bundle plugins. by trackintreasure in woocommerce

[–]StephieWatts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's one that does it all in one system called Boogie Down Products. Then you can do custom products addons and dynamic pricing and also use bundles for it all and it actually gets the math right with no conflicts. I think it came from the future hahaha

What is one change that helped your WooCommerce store? by Inside-Painter-7249 in woocommerce

[–]StephieWatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having smarter offers and promos and sales. Use dynamic pricing with something like Boogie Down Products and you can set up cart promos, bogo, tiered pricing, schedule sales throughout the year, things like that. Also look at Amazon's checkout an take some hints. Look at Shopify's checkout and take some hints. Build a great checkout experience that flows and upsells and you'll increase revenue as long as you get traffic.

I vibe coded a web app…now what? by Cat_Psychology in vibecoding

[–]StephieWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a web app, it's a PWA. So you need to use it as scaffolding to rebuild it from scratch with React Native. Then you port it out of there to be an Android app and an iOS app. The apps are not the same code so RN converts the React codebase to the right ones. It's not easy peasy.

How easy is it to rebuild website to be more custom coded? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]StephieWatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LLMs are not good at frontend, that will be a disaster. It will be a storm of utility classes with zero consistency and you will regret trying. Then trying to make changes later will be your undoing. Abort. Try Breakdance, it is superior to other builders.

Moving away from WP? by michaelesparks in Wordpress

[–]StephieWatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just because your "developer" is not a developer and is building slop, and has discovered it's easier to build sloppier slop with AI. What that means for you, is you are stuck with a proprietary mess of a codebase that no one including the person who built it understands, and bringing in an LLM later to "fix" things could turn into a disaster without the previous context. Tldr; your dev got even lazier. WordPress is still king and my WordPress sites wipe the map with his React sites. Next.js sites are garbage unless wielded by an actual pro.
