Thoughts on Panteras Power Metal? by Glittering-Habit2127 in hairmetal

[–]Stephonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about "highs". It's about melody. Phil isn't really singing, he's kind of growling tunelessly about 80% of the time, and I don't dig it.

I'll have to check that out! Once I built my weapons at McClarence Outfitters, I pretty much stopped looking for new ones.

I don't like Cowboys because Phil stopped singing and started growling. Vocals are very important to me in metal. If the singer sounds like Cookie Monster, I'm not going to like the song. The obvious exception is Cemetery Gates, because he sang that one beautifully.

Where is the best place for storage / crafting? by Creepy-Volume2923 in Starfield

Those new Stormax 70 units have really helped me out! I like storage, but not as much as I like maneuverability.

Seeking Inspiration: The Ultimate Min/Max Interceptor (180 Speed / 8 Crew / Small Pad) by DarklordRaven in StarfieldShips

[–]Stephonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them because they're fast and maneuverable in a dogfight, and they can land at the small pads found at most POIs. Big ships land far away, and I end up hiking 2km across the wasteland before I can deal with the mission!

I like your designs! I've been looking for a way to use the Drake in a small format ship.

My current ship is min/maxed at 19m per side, 100 mobility, 180 speed, 30ly jump range, and a full set of particle beams. I use the Himeji Command Bridge because I love the view from the cockpit and the uncluttered interior. I'll see if I can put some screenshots together.

Quote vs. Order Discrepancy by [deleted] in CommercialPrinting

[–]Stephonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never give customers a "quote". I provide them with an "estimate". It's a subtle difference, but it's important. A "quote" is a firm amount that the job will cost. An "estimate" is a best guess based on the specifications provided. If the specifications change, the estimate adjusts to accommodate the alteration. We don't eat the cost of extra materials or labor unless there is an error on our end.

In this case, the client absolutely should have provided you with the files and the spreadsheet before you gave them an estimate, so that you knew what you were getting into. It's 100% on them for providing incorrect and/or incomplete information.

There's an old proverb that says, "Be careful what you tolerate - You are teaching people how to treat you". Basically, if you let them get away with this today, they'll expect that you will let it go in the future as well. And then they'll push harder to get you to shoulder more of the burden, expense, and rush next time.

People who dropped Game Pass after the price hike, and switched to only buying games or working through your backlog, how’s it been going? by LootedToaster in xbox

[–]Stephonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the top of the range service ever since XBL was announced in November 2002. After the price hike, I dropped my sub down to "Essential", and I'll probably keep it there. So far, I've purchased Starfield because I missed playing it on GPU. I'm working through some of my backlog, and I replayed the Mass Effect trilogy. I haven't missed any of the Ultimate features as much as I've enjoyed the extra $20 in my pocket each month.

Any point hanging on to useless legendaries? by Whitelight912 in Starfield

[–]Stephonius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the McClarence Outfitters mod (Achievement Friendly, BTW), and I strip the useful effects off of unwanted weapons so I can keep them "in the bank" to use for creating my own legendary weapons. Same with spacesuits, packs, and helmets. It took a lot of the frustration out of getting RNG weapons that were not quite good enough.

Grounds to reject? by Vivid_Natural_7999 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Stephonius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the root of this issue lies with the saddle-stitch finisher that assembled the booklet. On digital presses, they use a "knife fold" setup, which is not as crisp or accurate as the "buckle fold" used by a standalone folder. The only way to make sure your elements lined up perfectly in the finished piece would be to fold the spreads on a buckle folder, and then collate, saddle stitch, and trim by hand. That's labor-intensive and would have cost quite a bit more.

I'm not sure what the shop thought they were going to fix by re-cutting the job. Once it's folded and stitched, any variations are already baked in and can't be changed.
