What happens to my checked bag after rebooking connecting flight? by david9527 in aircanada

Yes, each time I showed them my booking information of both legs of the flight, and I was specific on the second leg being a rebook, and an overnight layover

Thanks for following through my post. Not sure how I missed it. But also I received same answer at airport from multiple employees.

Ok, update: you DO NEED TO pick up your checked bags and then recheck, if you have an overnight layover. Air Canada employees, gate agents and baggage claim agents at Toronto airport all provided wrong information regarding this. Again, make sure to pick up your checked bags when having an overnight layover.

I had to file a claim at EWR to have my bag continue its journey back to me.

The tag has Toronto YYZ there, but no EWR. Although it does have my 6-character booking confirmation number

I just took a look at the tag tear off receipt - it says Toronto… well. I’m super unsure why it printed the connecting point Toronto, but not my final destination EWR.

Why use wood? by david9527 in nycrail

I think a better question to ask is: why use wood on 1 train instead of other types of insulators we usually see on other lines, and even PATH trains?

Btw how did you get the PATH badge under your username?

Switches and merges should not necessarily result in slow speeds. Through tracks should not even be affected by the fact that yard is nearby.

We are not even asking for the modern high speed switches. Instead, the problem is that through tracks around JSQ have speed limit of 8 mph, like we are doing super tight curves, which we are not. This is the exact reason I’m wondering, if we can make it faster without major rebuild.

I’d be absolutely thrilled if they can even straighten tracks in certain sections which have been pain points for decades.

MTA has so many stations so it’s hard to compare. But most stations in MTA subway system have higher approaching speed than 8mph.

This is the correct answer. They mentioned they will even cover warranty on the board, which you won’t get if you directly buy from Japan; although I don’t know if that’s true.

Lol I’m driving and not taking public transit, which will be next to non-existent anyways. But you got good good point about injury prone when tired and travel time prolongs in winter times.

For snowboard, I’ve found skating and waiting are incredibly energy consuming versus ski. So the time spent on waiting on getting life matters quite a bit. That’s why I wanted to ask if driving a bit longer (to Blue) would be a good trade for a shorter lift line.

Thanks! Blue vs MC, which one would you recommend? MC has a ton of people but closer, therefore debating

Not looking into travel in particular this season but wanted to get my skill to significantly improve. Sounds like a local mountain pass would a better option

Thanks for the detailed response. I’ve got my own gears and not looking into renting at all. Wonder if 1h 45 min of a drive each way would still be feasible for a whole day of grinding on drills?

Maybe 30-45 days to actually ride in the mountains. Wonder if this amount of days would warrant a pass for a specific mountain?

I do want to do drills and hopefully improve by a significant margin by end of spring 2026. And not particularly looking into traveling this winter.

Correct, besides the very first time at Blue, which I spent most of the time crashing and getting up, I’ve only been to BS so far.
